Violet or Felicity?

Opinions welcome! I really like both - Violet is quite popular these days but Felicity is maybe a bit posh. Not sure if it’s a boy or girl yet but preparing!

(I don't like Violet simply because it looks and sounds like the word Violent so for me it is a negative word)

Also Felicity has lovely diminutives - I love Fliss, I know a couple.

Felicity by a mile. I strongly dislike Violet and am a bit puzzled by its current popularity. Felicity suits someone of all ages (tbf Violet does too, actually - can see that despite not liking it), is fairly international/will travel well, unlike Violet, and has a beautiful meaning.

I have a Violet in my class ....I'm a teacher
Had a felicity a year or so ago ....parents called her Fizzy !!

Thanks all! Good to see they’re both pretty well received 😁 Still not sure so maybe we’ll have to see when the baby arrives, if it’s a girl!

I have a Felicity-12 yrs. Never had another one in any of her classes!
She likes Fliss as a NN- I call her Flissy and my dad calls her Filly!!
My nan was a Violet too!!

I personally wouldn't use Felicity as the two I have known have not been nice people but that's just my opinion

Thanks! We’re leaning towards Felicity too, I don’t like flick but don’t mind fliss or lissy and I think my 2 year old would be more likely to use those! I still like Violet a lot but the popularity is putting me off.

It’ll probably be a boy now! 😂

Felicity is harsh and brash sounding and very 1980's.
