Cannot decide between these names

Hi everyone, we have recently welcomed our third child, a baby girl (5th of May) and still cannot decide between 5 names: Nora, Leilani, Margot, Milana and Selene.
We already have two older children who are Elliott and Felicity, and we have decided that the middle name shall be Collette.
Thank you so much for your help

Nora or Margot

Leilani sounds to much like the tree that everyone hates

Cindie943811A · 09/05/2021 19:43

I think Margot would be the best choice. Nice strong name that goes well with your other DCs names

Undersnatch · 09/05/2021 19:46

Lora Nora Grin

Nora is my favourite by far.

Chilldonaldchill · 09/05/2021 22:24

Nora - nice, interesting, I much prefer the Norah spelling
Leilani - sorry but I think this is horrid. Tacky.
Margot - lovely. Quite trendy at the moment Milana - I've not heard this before. I don't think I like it
Selene - this fits best with your other names I think.

Selene, Margot or Norah are all good names with the others.

MercyBodle · 09/05/2021 23:33

Margot is my choice. I'm not keen on the others.

BakedBeansBang · 09/05/2021 23:35

Margot

MarshaBradyo · 09/05/2021 23:38

Selene

Not keen on the others

Liliana is another version I like though

partyatthepalace · 09/05/2021 23:39

Selene (assuming 3 syllables) is beautiful, Margot also fab

I have an irrational hatred of Nora (Snore-ah)
The other two just sound fussy and kind of made up to me

moofolk · 09/05/2021 23:40

Nora

TatianaBis · 09/05/2021 23:59

Any of them but Nora - dreadfully dowdy name,

Colette only has one l.

JemimaJoy · 10/05/2021 05:07

Margot

Star Nora Star

elliemara · 10/05/2021 05:17

The names are all beautiful but I am confused by the spellings and how they would be pronounced. Milana - isn't that Milena? Selene - do you mean Selena? Celine?

Given these issues, and generally disliking Margot (I know it's very popular at the moment but to me it's quite a harsh name), my pick would be between Nora and Leilani. I'd probably go with Nora (or Norah) as it might age better.

garlictwist · 10/05/2021 05:53

The only one I like is Nora (my grandmothers name!). Not so keen on the others.

WorkWorkAngelica · 10/05/2021 07:21

Selene (assuming 3 syllables) is beautiful

3 syllables? I would pronouncing that like Celine... No?

Selena I would pronounced with 3 syllables.

Of the other names probably Milana but none are my style. I love Colette, that is very pretty.

SycamoreGap · 10/05/2021 07:24

Margot goes better with your other daughters name. Nora reminds me of Nora Batty, but that is probably my age showing and I’m not as keen on the other names.

Chunkymenrock · 10/05/2021 07:32

Siblings names don't need to 'go'. Margot is awful and looks like maggot. Nora is frumpy, and the one I really like is Leilani.

TatianaBis · 10/05/2021 08:23

I disagree sibling names should ‘go’ otherwise they sound weird and random.

I’d go with Margot or Colette personally.

Pedalpushers · 10/05/2021 13:57

I love Leilani and like Selene. I hate Margot, I think it's a really ugly name and sounds stuck up.

17caterpillars1mouse · 10/05/2021 14:06

Congrats on your baby girl.

I like Nora best, but also quite like Leilani

I know so many baby Margot's lately incase popularity bothers you

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/05/2021 14:39

I disagree sibling message should ‘go’ otherwise they sound random and weird.

You see I totally disagree with that.
There are a number or reasons names may not go.
Dad names the girls and . Mum names the boys, and they have completely different tastes, eg Mum may love Jayden for a boy and dad may love Dorothy for a girl.
People’s naming styles may change with each pregnancy.
People have a wide variety of naming styles.

TatianaBis · 10/05/2021 16:08

That’s all too random for me. Can mum and dad not discuss? That’s no reason for the names not to work together.

As8ly4yn · 11/05/2021 23:21

I love that nickname! (still haven’t named the baby yet). Ruled out milana and Leilani but still the other three to pick from

Margot goes much better with Elliott and Felicity, which both have a classic elegant 1940s/1950s sort of vibe. The other names a bit less so I feel - Nora is much more Victorian-Edwardian, a bit too old fashioned for me (I had a great-aunt Nora born in the 1910s!) Selene doesn't quite seem to fit with the other children's names either - it's pretty but in a different, more modern style, to my mind.
