Hiya,

I've posted a few times before regarding baby names and I'm still really stuck and baby is due in 8 weeks. Please let me know which one you prefer (if any). Honest opinions pleasee 🙏. I'm really struggling because I'm not massively in love with any girl names apart from one which I cannot use due to initial issues ☹ (see my older thread). Thanks in advance 😁💖

  1. Eliza Annabel King
  2. Matilda Elizabeth King

Eliza for me. It's timeless & lovely.

I like the nn Tilly or Matty but am not so keen on the full Matilda.

Redskyyy · 08/05/2021 23:33

I can’t help apart from to say, I love these names. I have an Eliza and Matilda was my second choice!
I would probably go for Matilda.

Redskyyy · 08/05/2021 23:34

What is the name you can’t use but love?

Mamma21 · 08/05/2021 23:37

Thanks for the replys 🥰 Florence. I really love it but the initials would be F.king 🙈. I can't bring myself to do it to her 🤣

Just out of curiosity do you use a NN with your Eliza?? Xxx

I agree that F. King would not be the best initials. But 8 weeks is loads of time to decide.

Of the two I'd prefer Eliza

MayorGundersonsDogRufus · 09/05/2021 06:48

Just go with Florence Ursula Carla King and be done with it!

Sorry, unhelpful. Grin I think they are both lovely - Eliza is more timeless but I like Matilda, Tilda for short.

sarah13xx · 09/05/2021 06:59

As someone who’s had the worst set of initials my whole life (feel like revealing them might give away who I am because NO ONE else would have initials this bad).. I’d say just go for the name you actually love. If you’re not happy using it in that order can you not change a middle name so it’s not a vowel? The first name is way more important, you won’t know most people you’re friends with middle names. I’m trying to name a boy just now and we’d always had a boy and girl name set but because my mum wasn’t instantly in love with it when I told her (shouldn’t have told her) and because it featured way higher up the popularity list than we’d thought we were put off it for a bit and looked at others. I posted on here loads of times with options but no matter how hard I tried I just couldn’t love the other names the same. My mum now says the name is nice anyway 😂 and I’ve came to the conclusion I really don’t care about popularity because it’s always been my favourite boy name. I’d say go for it! You don’t want to hear that name in future and wish you had to spend months doubting whether your child has the right name

tiredteacher100 · 09/05/2021 07:09

I know an Aliza which is a slightly different form of Eliza

DinosaurDiana · 09/05/2021 07:24

I prefer Eliza.
But what I would say is to have a couple of names ready and then see which she suits. You don’t have to decide now.

BikeRunSki · 09/05/2021 07:33

I prefer Eliza too.

F. King is best avoided! Smile

I’m all for using a name you love, regardless of a set of dodgy initials, but first initial and surname is used a lot!

MangosteenSoda · 09/05/2021 07:33

Love, love, love Eliza!

AnxiousAnnie86 · 09/05/2021 07:48

@Mamma21 I love Eliza 😍

partyatthepalace · 09/05/2021 08:47

Both lovely - probably Eliza for me - but it’s a nn for Elizabeth so I would put that on the birth cert.

F King - ah - no you can’t. If it’s any comfort I think Eliza/beth and Matilda are nicer (less twee) than Florence, pretty though it is. Edith, Beatrice, Charlotte and Harriet have a similar feel to Florence to me.

Mamma21 · 09/05/2021 08:53

Thanks for the reply. I also love Harriet but I already have a Harrison so that's out of the question and well my name is Charlotte. 🤣 Edith and Beatrice have been on/off our list throughout. Great recommendations 😁 xx

I love Matilda and Elizabeth. Eliza is nice too but there are so many E names that I feel Matilda stands out more. Matilda is an absolute favourite of mine.

Edenember · 09/05/2021 09:25

Another vote for Eliza

I really love the ultimate classic Elizabeth, but personally find Eliza too trendy at the moment (as a given name rather than a nn). So out of Eliza and Matilda, I'd pick Matilda (it's popular but at least it has lots nn options, plus the cool Roald Dahl namesake).

You seem to like more classic feeling names that err on the retro side, so you might also like Emmeline, Constance, Josephine, Madeleine, Verity, Iris, Eleanor, Hazel, Adeline/Ada, Alice or Evelyn?

Happycat1212 · 09/05/2021 15:42

Don’t use f king just no! I like both Matilda and Eliza

DramaAlpaca · 09/05/2021 15:56

I like Matilda best

Spied · 09/05/2021 16:03

Prefer Eliza.
I do really like Florence too.
Could you not use Florence Eliza King?
FEKConfused

As8ly4yn · 09/05/2021 16:46

Both are absolutely beautiful choices but I personally would go with Eliza. But congratulations and I wish you all the best for what's to come!

Happycat1212 · 09/05/2021 16:49

Most people won’t use initials with the middle name. My bank card states my first initial with my surname. Why you would do that to a kid when it could be avoided.

Mamma21 · 09/05/2021 19:02

Thank you so much for all of the replies. Some lovely suggestions too!! I think Eliza was the front runner for me and by reading these comments it looks as though the majority of you agree which helps me loads!! Thanks guys 💖💖💖 xxx
