Jacob Felix Edward

I named my son Felix Edward, however it took a while to decide. I still doubt (after weeks) if I shouldn't have taken Jacob instead of Felix. I'm 100% sure about Edward. My family loves the name Felix, so just thought about adding Jacob instead of replacing it.

I'm definitely sometimes an overthinking person. Lucky ones who know from the beginning their baby's name 😅

It sounds to me like neither are the right name as you've also mentioned James as a possibility.

Could you take a few days just calling him Felix then a few days just calling him Jacob, then just calling him James? And see what fits. Dont try and mix the names up during those few days just stick to the one name at a time to see if it feels right?

And completely disregard what your family think as it's not their choice.

If you really want Edward can you use that as a first name and call him a nn such as Ted or Teddy or Eddie or Ed?

For what it's worth I think Felix is quite posh but I think I actually like that best. Nothing wrong with Jacob but I personally dont understand its popularity.

I love the name Jacob. Jacob Felix Edward has a lovely ring to it.

Felix does immediately make me think of cats.

HOWEVER, babies soon become whatever you call them and if a friend called her son Felix, very soon that would be my first association.

My SIL chose names (my brother being too wet to object) that I (and the rest of the world) associate with other things (tree,something you mine & a disease) but now they're just my niece & nephews names.

Meanwhile their dog & cat have 'normal' human names 🤣🤣

Why are you worried about having used Felix?

Felix is better than Jacob, which is a bit tired, IMO.

Both are lovely names but if it helps, Jacob is the more "classic" sounding of the two imo (because I think it's always been well used by the Jewish community, even before it became popular with everyone else) but not as classic as Edward, which has never been out of the top 100. Felix was fairly uncommon until about 20/25 years ago and is still rising in popularity - so may give his age away a bit more.

I wouldn't care about the Twilight or the cat thing personally - those are minor references imo. You could decide based on whether you like the nn Jake or not? The Jacob's I know were all Jake's by the time they were teenagers, where as the Felix's stayed as Felix.

I absolutely love Jacob and Edward 😍😍😍 personally not keen on Felix but if you love it, go for it!!

Thanks everyone for their opinion ☺️ it's a nice feedback overall. Parents choose the name, but a friend gave her son a name nobody likes and it's bit awkward then and now. I am just trying Felix for this week and Jacob for the next and see how it goes and how my son reacts :)
