Pretty and underused? A bit naff and too much associated with the teenage witch? I can't decide!

Lovely. My favourite Angel!

PainterInPeril · 01/05/2021 21:28

What about Sabine? (Pronounced "Sabeena")
I know someone called this and think it's really cool!

MysteriousMonkey · 01/05/2021 21:32

Yes I really like it, don't know why I didn't consider it! I liked Sabrina The Teenage Wtch but am on my 40s, so don't think any kids would associate the name

annaboo2 · 02/05/2021 03:15

I think of the teenage witch when I hear the name, but it’s not a particularly negative association. If it bothers you, consider Serena, Sabine, and Sabryn.

I prefer this one.

Sabine was a name they always used in our German language books in secondary school.

'Ich heise Sabine. Wunderbar'.

MooseMoose · 02/05/2021 09:00

Thanks. Really not keen on Sabine - I think it sounds quite harsh, whereas Sabrina sounds quite sparkly and happy to my ears. Also like Serena, but DH not keen.

Love Sabrina and also Selina. Have taught children with those names and they were completely lovely.

Hughbert · 02/05/2021 09:04

Serena is too Serena Joy and that woman is mean.

daisypond · 02/05/2021 09:04

Sabrina is great

MercyBodle · 02/05/2021 09:05

More Audrey Hepburn than teenage witch for me. I agree with you OP, a strong, feminine, up-beat name.

Enko · 02/05/2021 09:07

Very pretty and underused teenage witch will be adults only so will go soon enough.

CaffiSaliMali · 02/05/2021 11:01

I love it, nice name and underused. Parents will know about Sabrina the teenage witch but it's not a bad association. It's on my list of non-Welsh names.

MadeOfStarStuff · 02/05/2021 12:47

Teenage witch is my immediate thought but that’s not a bad association

I think it’s a nice strong unusual name

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 02/05/2021 16:17

Lovely and classical - but because it's uncommon most people will either think Teenage Witch or the Hepburn film (or the remake). This wouldn't stop me personally from using it though - they aren't bad references.

blueleonburger · 03/05/2021 08:43

Lovely name. Yes for me it makes me think of the teenage witch, but her peers won't have this problem

YoniAndGuy · 03/05/2021 09:51

Love it!

bishbashbosh99 · 03/05/2021 09:56

Lovely. Also love Serena

Mrsjayy · 03/05/2021 09:59

Woman I know has a granddaughter Sabrina,.I think it's lovely

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/05/2021 10:04

I was at school with a Sabrina when the Teenage witch was popular, and no one made the association then. (There is a current remake as well, so it's not completely in the past. )

ChiefBabySniffer · 03/05/2021 11:01

I like Sabrina but I absolutely LOVE Sabine. Should I miraculously find myself pregnant with a daughter that would be her name.

MooseMoose · 03/05/2021 13:43

Thanks everyone. I really wasn't expecting such a positive response. I thought it might be a bit too frilly or people would be put off by the witchy vibes...

ShoppingPrecinctPrincess · 03/05/2021 15:32

It doesn't sound frilly to me, it sounds grown up and feminine. Arabella is the style of name that I find too frilly.

TwinMum35 · 03/05/2021 15:39

Large Portuguese community where I live and it’s commonly used 👍

MondeoFan · 03/05/2021 15:44

I don't mind it, bit old fashioned. I know an adult bully named Sabrina so puts me off the name as she's real nasty.
