Anna or Nell?

Nell has been one of my favourite names for a long time and I’ve been thinking about Anna a lot lately. What are your thoughts on Anna vs. Nell?

The only Annas I know are terrible which has put me off - which is a shame, it's a nice name!

Anna is a beautiful name. I like Nell too, but be prepared for elephant jokes!

Love Nell as a nn for Eleanor/Helena/Penelope but not as a full name - also it really had a moment recently so might end up more dated than the classic Anna. You also have the option of Nancy as a nn for Anna which I think has a similar feel to Nell but less popular.

I think Anna is having a moment. There seem to be a lot more of them so I'd choose Nell.

I think a loved name should be used particularly when unusual and utterly gorgeous.

Though I do like Nell as a nickname (I knew a Helen nicknamed Nell) I don't love it as a full name.
