Scottish/Irish/surname baby name

Me and my husband cannot agree on names. He is very keen to have a Scottish name if it's a boy, but would also settle for Irish (we are both).

I've also narrowed down that he likes surnames as first names too (things like Jaxson). These don't have to be celtic.

Names we've considered and like but have discounted - mainly due to other family members using first:
Charlie
Brodie
Cameron
Arran
Harris

Can anyone help me find a name we both love?

Ewan, Lewis, Sean, Gerard ( only because it’s also a second name, Patrick, James, Scott ( I know it’s not technically Scottish/Celtic but the thought is there), Angus, Douglas, Donald

Cameron, Arran and Harris are all lovely traditional Scottish names. Jaxson - if you like that name - use the spelling Jackson instead.

clpsmum · 18/04/2021 19:43

Sorry didn't notice you'd said not Harris!!

I do like Conor but not sure if it's waaaaay too popular... not that it really matters unless it dates badly.

DH is Irish and I am half Scottish- our DS is Euan

Other names on our list were:
Finn / Finbar (but with our Irish surname maybe would have been too much)

Actually that was it!!

MumofSpud · 18/04/2021 20:46

Oh I forgot - Tadgh (but we are in the UK and thought this would be mispronounced too much!)

MrsFin · 18/04/2021 20:47

My favourite Irish name is Jarlath.
