Would this put you off?

We've been trying to decide between Isobel Wren, or Imogen Wren. I'm 90% set on Isobel Wren but I just googled it for the first time and it's a fetish model and pornstar.

She doesn't seem that big, apparently ranked #7551 out of pornstars in popularity, if that's relevant.

Is this a no go now? Or does it not matter?

Just my luck BlushGrin

I would say no because of lot of people google their own name when they grow up. I think it was one of the first things I did google.

Tinty · 18/04/2021 16:21

To be fair as long as you don’t tell her she is named after a porn star, it will be fine. Grin

PegPeople · 18/04/2021 16:23

Literally wouldn't bother me at all. Think of it this way the day after your daughter is born someone else with her name could become a well known celebrity, porn star, serial killer etc.

At least you know about this person in advance but in all honesty it's highly unlikely anyone will Google her name and make the connection.

Mustardbay · 18/04/2021 16:25

Can you use Isabelle or another spelling, I would change it sorry.

Flickie · 18/04/2021 16:27

I've found her Twitter and she's now 40 and retired from porn. So she won't become like a huge well known name at this point. Does that help..

I'm so annoyed, I love the name! Blush

Wouldn't bother me at all.

wheresmymojo · 18/04/2021 16:30

Surely given that she's already retired, by the time your DD is old enough to Google her name it the porn star results won't be that prevalent.

Is the porn star just Isobel Wren or Isobel Wren with your surname?

BangingOn · 18/04/2021 16:30

Would Wren be her surname or middle name? If it’s her middle name it wouldn’t bother me at all, I don’t think anyone is ever known by ‘first name/middle name’ and wouldn’t be likely to Google that either.

OhShitShit · 18/04/2021 16:34

I think Wren is a beautiful name- would you consider reversing the order if it’s a middle name?

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 18/04/2021 16:37

Will this bother you?

I have to say, I never thought to Google my DDs’ names. I figured if I didn’t know anyone with that name, it’s likely others wouldn’t either.

partyatthepalace · 18/04/2021 16:38

It wouldn’t bother me

I’d go for Imogen though, just because there are so many Isabel variants about, lovely names though they are

badacorn · 18/04/2021 16:51

I’ve just googled it. If a search for my daughters name returned similar results I’d be looking for another name.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 18/04/2021 19:11

Is Wren your surname? If not, then I wouldn't think this would matter at all - some people may google their full name or first name and surname, but rarely just first and middle names, so this wouldn't matter to me personally.

Both Imogen Wren and Isobel Wren are lovely - I slightly prefer Isobel, but I'd maybe decide based on which nn options you like better, just in case (so Izzy/Belle or Immy/Ginny).

ladygindiva · 18/04/2021 19:25

I have an Eva Marie. I only realised days after registering that that is the name of a busty glamorous wrestler.

ladygindiva · 18/04/2021 19:27

And no, it wouldn't bother me. Isobel Wren is beautiful.

Sall23 · 18/04/2021 19:28

Wouldn't bother me, especially if Wren is only the middle name. Nice name.

AnxietyMumEpi · 18/04/2021 19:30

My daughter's name is also a porn star. Doesn't bother me, if it was a really popular one then that would be different.

By the time she's older it will probably bring up different results

Kittykat93 · 18/04/2021 19:39

Wouldnt even occur to me to google a potential child's name...I think its fine

RobertaSloth · 18/04/2021 19:47

That would definitely put me off. I wouldn’t be able to forget the association unfortunately Confused

As a side note, when did the name ‘Wren’ become so popular? I’d never heard of it two years ago but it’s on virtually every MN thread about girls names. Is there a famous Wren who has made it popular? Or does it just happen to be having a moment?

Megan2018 · 18/04/2021 19:52

Wouldn’t bother me.

You can name a child and a year later find a porn star/serial killer with the same name. It’s really not worth worrying about.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 18/04/2021 19:54

If you google my mum’s very boring, normal name, you come up with a porn star. I hope that dm doesn’t have a secret job on the side Grin

Your name choice is pleasant and normal. Any name you choose could end up being problematical...

MrBond · 18/04/2021 20:00

I shared my name with a pretty famous pornstar growing up, but she was famous when I was a baby. DF found out about her after I was born. However, I didn't find out about her until I was naming my own kids when DF brought the story up- by the time I hit secondary school she'd become old news.

I wouldn't worry- no one will care.

BlueLobelia · 18/04/2021 20:02

@BeingATwatItsABingThing

Will this bother you?

I have to say, I never thought to Google my DDs’ names. I figured if I didn’t know anyone with that name, it’s likely others wouldn’t either.

I googled my DS's name and found our own birth announcement on a thread with people taking the piss out of it. Grin

But yes, I would be a bit leery in the OP#s position.

Standrewsschool · 18/04/2021 20:04

I wouldn’t associate the name with a porn star, and I presume most people won’t.

ForThePurposeOfTheTape · 18/04/2021 20:44

There will be a porn star for every name. I admittedly wouldn't go for a famous one like Jenna Jameson but your combination means nothing to most people.
