Ella, Eden and .....

Hi

Already have two girls Ella Nicole and Eden Summer (both of which I absolutely love) but finding it so hard to find another girl's name!

Have a small list of 6 names, 5 of which start with E...! That is not intentional, just worked out that way. I did have one name that wasn't an E but husband has said no to that 😢

Current list is

Esme
(would want it pronounced Ez-may though, don't know if that would be an issue)

Ellexis
(newest to be added. Husband likes Lexi, I thought it would maybe be a compromise although would it just end up in her being called Lexi anyways)

Eliana

Everley

Eliza

Arielle

Does anybody have any other suggestions of names?

Thank you!

I thought Esme before I clicked on your thread. It’s got to be a name starting with E with 4 letters, anything else would be just wrong. And it needs to have a different ending from the others, so Emma or Etta or Erin wouldn’t work. Esme for sure!

Lalliella · 05/04/2021 00:12

Esme Martha
Esme Hannah
Esme Hattie
Esme Rosa
Esme Caitlin

The only one I like personally is Esme and it also fits best with her siblings names if that matters (popular 2 syllable, 4 letter "E" name with a different ending sound to Ella and Eden so it's not quite as matchy).

It's a lovely name and I think the majority of people in England/Wales would first guess it's pronounced Ez-May, even without the accent on the final e (might be different in other countries though - I think in Scotland it's more typically Ez -mee, not sure about Ireland).

However if you continue the naming pattern and have another child I'm not sure what other names you could use to "fit" - Evie I suppose? since that is also 2 syllables with a different ending sound to Esme, Eden and Ella. It would have to be Eric for a boy too!

Another vote for Esme

Esme Skye is nice

joystir59 · 05/04/2021 07:26

Zoe. Break the trend.

YouAreYourBestThing · 05/04/2021 07:40

Why do you have to have another E name? Why do people do this? 🤦‍♀️ I don't get it! Nothing against E names...my own daughter is Emma so I obviously love E names! But my second child didn't get saddled with an E name 🤷‍♀️

Estasala · 05/04/2021 07:41

Heather
Ashley
Grace
Eleanor/Ellie

Estasala · 05/04/2021 07:42

Oops forgot Ella was existing DD sorry. Not Ellie then!

Sophia
Amanda

mishgs · 05/04/2021 07:45

I've taught two families who gave their children names with the same initial - Josh and Jacob, Leo & Lucas and honestly it's hard to remember who was who..... I'd try and give them their own identity & different initials. Ps think of the post/mail too - Miss.E ....... Miss. E.......

PandaFluff · 05/04/2021 07:46

Actually another E name will make it even tricker when they get post (or is it all by email now so maybe not a problem!).

Abigail as PP said.
Ava
Aria

I think there are lots of A names that will go nicely.

ellesbellesxxx · 05/04/2021 07:49

I thought Eloise too!

Or non E name:

Rosa

GertrudeTheGreat · 05/04/2021 08:39

Emma
Emmeline
Emmy
Emilia
Evelyn
Eloise

Of your list, I really like Everly. Esme and Arielle ok too. I don't like Ellexia.

ThereforeIAm · 05/04/2021 08:44

Esme is the nicest.

I thought Alexis was with an A. Never seen it with an E so if you are looking for a non-E name use that?

Shosha1 · 05/04/2021 08:52

I wouldn't have another El starting name, it would get shortened to Ellie and you already have a Ella.

Emily, Emma or Emilia?

Erin, Erica or Eriskay?

Roszie · 05/04/2021 09:13

Definitely not Ellexia

Esme is lovely. I've never heard it pronounced any other way.

Edenember · 05/04/2021 09:38

I would write off your El- beginning names so as not to be too similar to Ella. I’d write off Arielle for the same reason for the ending. I also think it would be good to break out of the E thing to not make it a theme, but I think another vowel name would probably go best. Some suggestions -
Arrietty
Amelie
Autumn
Avie
Arya
Osha
Avery
Lexie
Scarlett
Darcey
Imogen
Mariette
Juliet

omg35 · 05/04/2021 09:38

Anais

TatianaBis · 05/04/2021 10:32

I agree that another El name doesn’t work.

I’d go with Emily/Emilia. (Don’t like Esme personally).

Chocolateismakingmefat · 05/04/2021 10:33

Everley by a mile.
.

WiseOwlOne · 05/04/2021 10:37

Sadie or Sally would flow with Ella and Eden

WiseOwlOne · 05/04/2021 10:39

Not another E name!
Go on to the next letter, Flora.
Lois would go with Ella and Eden. A new letter altogether. But that's for the best imo

Standrewsschool · 05/04/2021 10:54

Thought of Edward when seeing your title, then saw you needed a girls name. Edwina?

Eva
Etta
Effie
Emelia
Erin

OhTheTastyNuts · 05/04/2021 11:03

Iris
Cora
Katy
Hazel
Lyra
Anya

I do really like Esme if you want another E name.

Ismellphantoms · 05/04/2021 11:06

Spell it Esmé, then there won't be a problem with pronunciation.

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 05/04/2021 11:12

Eilish

Eleanor is lovely but you will end up with two children with El, Els etc for short.

Enya, Eva, all begin with E but have different vowel sounds to Ella and Erin
