How do we feel about April for a little girl? We seem to be particularly drawn to A names this time around if anyone has any other suggestions!

TIA Smile

Love it

mildlymiffed · 03/04/2021 13:35

I like April.

I also went to school with a very beautiful girl called Alana, and have always liked the name. Along with Anna and Anoushka.

KirstenBlest · 03/04/2021 13:36

Avril is horrible. Sounds like Bovril

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 03/04/2021 21:10

April is lovely. Was on my shortlist but had DS instead!

Sall23 · 03/04/2021 21:35

I like it. Pretty and simple. How about Ada, Ava, Anwen, Alma, Ariadne, Amelie?

I also really like May for a girl.

Peachbubble · 04/04/2021 06:43

I like it. I only know of one, aged 11. I also like Arabella, Annabella, Anoushka, Anouk and Alice.

April is lovely

Adelaide is a much better name. April fool comes to mind
April is a much nicer name. Adelaide is just a place in Australia

Mollymalone123 · 04/04/2021 06:47

Lovely

People wouldn’t bat an eye at a May or June not being born in that month would they??! It certainly wouldn’t occur to me. Odd argument IMO.

April and Adelaide were both on our list too, there’s a baby in the family called Adelina now though! Nn Ada.

User57392985 · 04/04/2021 06:54

Adelaide is just a place in Australia

Confused the place is named after Queen Adelaide.

Doubt you say the same about Victoria or Florence?

I would. I find it strange to name a child after a month or day they weren't born on. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Wow I’m surprised by that! So you expect all those Ellie-Mays and Lily-Mays to be born in May?

Not expect as such, I just find it odd if they're not. My cousins little girl has May as her middle name and she was born in May.
ContractClockAndCrucible · 04/04/2021 13:52

I have an April. She's a grown woman now and she loves her name. People always remember it too as it's just a little bit different (her school year was full of Amys, Charlottes and Sophies). However, yes she'd be a wealthy woman if she had a pound for every time someone said "Oh, we're you born in April? '

3AndStopping · 04/04/2021 15:13

Also love May as a first name but it’s one of our other children’s middle names. She is not born in May also Grin

Does April have a nickname?

April is beautiful.

I loved Antigone too but DP though it was ‘too posh’

ContractClockAndCrucible · 04/04/2021 17:27

@3AndStopping

Does April have a nickname?
The family call her Apes. Not the most attractive name 😄
3AndStopping · 04/04/2021 17:46

@ContractClockAndCrucible yes I couldn’t think of anything but ‘ape’ 🤣 it’s not the actual name though right!?

Also middle names that go with April? 🤔
