Sister for Mabel & Stanley

Hi all, recommendations welcome to name baby girl who is a twin to Stanley and has older sister Mabel.

Our shortlist so far is :
Olive
Iris
Sybil (family name)
Alba

As you can tell we lean more towards the older style names!

I love Florence and Violet but feel both have become super popular.

Florence.
Alice.

I love love love Olive! I would totally use it for a girl if our last name wasn't Brown...Olive Brown sounds like an odd crayon colour lol

I think the names Mabel and Olive are perfect sister names.

lovelsa · 02/04/2021 07:43

@Moonface123 I second Elsa ;)

Sybil was actually my first thought. I also think Martha would go well with your choices

Ethel

@Tinkletwat

Olive Smile Makes me think of Andrew Cotter's superstar dogs.
Exactly. You really can’t have Mabel and Olive...
VenusClapTrap · 02/04/2021 07:59

I love Sybil.

We wanted Henry if our first born was a boy, so that was always the plan this time around. I've always loved Stanley and although becoming popular, I felt it less so than Henry over the last few years! Stanley has just swayed it

I mist admit neither myself or my partner knew Laurel and Hardy's full names! I also think with the babies growing up it would mostly be grandparents who would know the connection!

We've also never heard of Andrew Cotter! Hopefully just a connection very few people would make Smile

Sybil is lovely but not with Stanley as a twin.

Olive is lovely but you can't have Stan and Oli.

I'm keen on Alba and it has a different vibe to the others.

Iris is nice but very popular.

Florence my fave but too popular. It wasn't in the top 100 when I chose it.

I like Violet and less popular than Iris.

Olive all the way! I've always loved it!!!

pigglepot · 02/04/2021 21:25

I've got a one year old Violet and I'm yet to meet another one her age and there isn't one at her nursery (of any age) either

pigglepot · 02/04/2021 21:28

P.s there are an awful lot of Iris' about. Iris was my other top name. But I actually think Iris is a lot more popular than Violet if you're worried about using it for that reason. Sybil is lovely and could be shortened to Billie which I really love.

skeggycaggy · 02/04/2021 21:31

I actually know twins called Stanley and Mabel.

I think Olive is great. Don’t think Andrew Cotter’s dogs matter!

TurkeyTrot · 02/04/2021 23:14

My neighbours have DC Stanley and Ivy, which go together well in my opinion
