Violet's sister is called...?

We've just found out we are having another girl and I am totally stumped on girls names! I was certain I was having a boy and had the name all picked out!!

Could you help me with name suggestions to go with Violet? I don't want anything old fashioned again so I would like something with more of a modern sound. A few on my list but I'm not sold on are:

Honor (husband hates this)
Amelie (a new addition- maybe too similar to Emily? I've got an Emily in the family)
Iris (not sure about another flower)
Esme (love this but I would pronounce it Ez-me and I think everyone else says Ez-may)
Winnie/Bobbie/Billie (like these but don't love the long versions of the names)

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pigglepot · 30/03/2021 18:46

@Petal7

Iris was the name that immediately sprung to mind.

Also
Clementine
Isabella
Hattie
Maggie
Agnes
Flora
Tabitha
Josephine

Tabitha and Flora are both on my list and I like them both. Violet was actually Tabitha for the first few days!!

My mum just suggested Skye and I quite like it! Violet and Skye is quite sweet...?

OP posts:
Amdone123 · 31/03/2021 11:19

Am not sure about Skye......
So far, I love Imogen, Margot and Esme ( biased. Never had any issues with pronunciation. It's not difficult to tell people which one she is ! I like both pronunciations, though )
Fleur is great, too. Obviously means flower, but isn't one.

Stevearnottsbeard · 31/03/2021 12:49

Not too keen on skye personally and I read it as violet sky as if you were describing the sky 🙈 but anyway that's just probably me!!!

I totally get that, I can hear it now "Violet, Sky come back here"

Sorry OP I was thinking earlier about Violet being a colour rather than a flower, I can't even think what Violets look like.

QwertyGirly · 31/03/2021 13:00

Louisa. Violet and Louisa. Louisa and Violet.

Otterspotterspocket · 31/03/2021 13:23

The first name that popped into my head was Daisy - sweet and delicate. But the flower theme might not appear (and may e I am subconsciously channelling the Bucket sisters. Hmm

Devlesko · 31/03/2021 13:36

Rose, Lily, Daisy, Indigo.

MyGorramShip · 31/03/2021 13:37

I know a Violet and Ruby

I like Ruby with it. Definitely not Indigo, makes them sound like a rainbow.

Ruby is lovely but it's my mums dogs name! A very loved dog who she treats as her third child!! Ruby would also be lovely as it was my DH's granny's name.

I always think of Violet as the flower rather than the colour so maybe a bit too flowery?!

Definitely can't share her name with the dogGrin.

Violet is a beautiful name Smile
I really struggled to name my own kids. I seem to pick fault with loads of names.

udnertheradar · 31/03/2021 14:19

Mabel!

CaptainSpirit · 31/03/2021 14:34

Violet is such a beautiful name, always my favourite growing up! 💜

My two daughters are named Violet and Cassie, I just love saying them together. Smile

Tocktickclick · 31/03/2021 14:41

I love Violet! Wish I could have another baby so I could use it.
Hmmm.... Imogen, Claudia, Daphne and Madeleine would be on my list I think. And perhaps Felicity, Faith, Hope or Ruth (not keen on Honor personally but those suggestions follow that line of thinking imo)

uncomfortablydumb53 · 31/03/2021 14:46

I was going to say Esme... would have been my choice but I have 3 sons
Gorgeous name

Viviennemary · 31/03/2021 14:55
