If I already have a Florence...

Can I get away with Freddie for DC3? Or will my children sound like the Tesco clothes section! For info, Florence is DD1 and goes by Florence or Flossie, and DC3 would definitely be a Freddie rather than a Fred

It wouldn’t stop me! Very sweet combo and nice names -

Lovely names
Wouldn't let that put you off, especially as you have 3

I have a Florence and Fred is in my shortlist for boys for DC2. I'm not bothered about the Tesco connotation I love it!

clockworkshoe · 25/03/2021 18:42

If you only had 2 children then it may be more of an issue but Florence, DC2 and Freddie would sound fine. You're unlikely to just list the two names together.

Both are lovely.

I love it, I wouldn't have thought of Tesco straight away especially as she doesn't go by "Flo"

RuthW · 25/03/2021 22:08

Go for it

I have a Florence. If she was a boy she would have been Frederick.

She was born when Florence and Fred clothes were Cherokee. They are now F&F. Most people don't know what it stands for.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 25/03/2021 22:35

I'd stick Frederick on the birth certificate personally - gives him more options when older, even if he's always known as Freddie (plus Florence and Frederick are similar "style" names - vintage/retro but edging towards classic feeling, where as Freddie is more cutesy/trendy). I don't think the clothing thing's a problem - I might have thought of it for Florence and Fred, but not for Frederick/Freddie.

PandaFluff · 26/03/2021 09:07

I think as you've got DC2 in the middle it will be fine. I would call him Frederick on birth cert.

merrymouse · 26/03/2021 09:09

I don’t think F&F is a particularly high profile brand and there is no reason to assume it will still exist in 10 years.

amallierory · 27/03/2021 08:08

I think Flossie & Freddie, or even Florence and Freddie, is too matchy. Nice names though.

Saltyslug · 27/03/2021 08:11

Quite sweet together.

Alfred would also give you the nickname Freddie

Saltyslug · 27/03/2021 08:12

Teddy is similar - Edward Edwin Theodore

Saltyslug · 27/03/2021 08:16

Eddy

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 27/03/2021 08:23

If I already have a Florence... Shouldn't a boy be Dougal? Grin

IllNeverLetGoJack · 27/03/2021 08:27

I think it's fine! Especially since they will be two out of three dcs. Maybe I wouldn't if it was twins, but even then, I think it's fine Smile
