Hello everyone, need some opinions. Currently trying to find a nickname for my little Martina, which one do you prefer the most between the ones in the title? Would like one that wouldn't sound weird in an English speaking country. Martie is the more similar one but I am afraid it would sound weird for English speaking people. Thanks

I really like Martie

Fauvist · 25/03/2021 14:02

Marnie is lovely!

kaylrich67 · 25/03/2021 14:06

Maisie is a lovely name!!! You should defo go for that

JamieFrasersBigSwingingKilt · 25/03/2021 14:09

Martie is great. Maisie is not a natural nickname for Martina.

jellyfishinatent · 25/03/2021 14:14

Marnie or Martie

SpringSunshineandTulips · 25/03/2021 14:16

If she’s called martina then Martie is the nickname she’ll need. If she can be called a differeent name then I prefer Maisie or Marnie over martie.

MinnieKat · 25/03/2021 14:17

I love Martie, it’s very pretty, but predict she’ll end up being Smartie rather quickly! Which is actually quite sweet! Grin

Noodlesnoodlesnoodles · 25/03/2021 14:28

Martie, or Marnie. Don't think Maisie works.

TatianaBis · 25/03/2021 14:28

Marnie don't like the others.

Maisie is a diminutive for Margaret.

MoreWater · 25/03/2021 14:34

Relative of mine called Martina had the NN Tina.

Tamingofthehamster · 25/03/2021 14:34

I’d probably end up calling her Teeny, but really like Martie .

Sarcobaleno · 25/03/2021 14:35

Marnie or I'd go for Marta personally. I like Maisie but it's quite overused and don't see the connection to Martina.

Mamamamasaurus · 25/03/2021 14:38

Why do you need a NN, why not just call her Martie / Marnie etc?

Lockdownbear · 25/03/2021 14:40

Why do you want a nickname?
Martina - reminds me of the amazingly strong tennis player.

Martie - could become Smartie but sounds manish, Martin, Marti Pellow.

Tina - a more natural nickname for Martina, and the name of another incredibly strong woman.

Bottom line either stick with Martina or Tina.

Quercus3 · 25/03/2021 14:45

Martie is cute, it isn't a nickname you hear often in England but makes sense for Martina and is lovely! Marnie is nice too.

IllNeverLetGoJack · 25/03/2021 17:15

Martie is nice I think! I prefer it to Maisie or Marnie and it makes more sense I think.

Kanaloa · 25/03/2021 17:30

Marrie. Maisie and Marnie are different names to be. Marnie would maybe catch on but Maisie literally only shared a first letter.

Violetlavenders · 25/03/2021 17:47

Is her name Martina? Or are considering other names like Maisie or Marnie?

If her name IS already Martina, then Martie is the natural shortening. But I know a couple of Martinas and they're always known as Martina. It's a nice name and easy enough to say!

pilates · 25/03/2021 17:55

Martie

Dislike the other two

PandaFluff · 25/03/2021 20:46

Martie/Mart/Tina

Lockdownbear · 25/03/2021 21:08

Mart - seriously Mart will get misheard as in Mark or if she travels Walmart.

Sorry, Martina, Tina maybe Marty but that's a guy's name. I still don't get the need for a nickname.

Happenchance · 25/03/2021 21:11

I prefer Marnie. I also like Marta.

Flymetothestars · 25/03/2021 21:19

Love Marnie ❤️

partyatthepalace · 25/03/2021 23:01

Marnie is great

Maisie is sweet but so many of them

Martie sounds like a disappointed divorcee in a 1970s wine bar, or a bloke called Martin, so I wouldn’t.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 25/03/2021 23:05

Martie seems the most natural shortening/nn of Martina - but if you want her name to "fit in" the most, the Marnie shortening would work perfectly (it's currently very trendy/cool). Maisie is a well known shortening of Margaret so wouldn't work as well for Martina imo.
