You really can’t. But I sympathise, I loved Narcissa when I was choosing a name for dc2. Fortunately he was a boy it would have really suited him

AlwaysLatte · 16/03/2021 16:36

Why would you want to call your child 'Death'?

BrownEyedGirl80 · 16/03/2021 16:41

Jesus no

TalbotAMan · 16/03/2021 16:43

Just no. It's an invented name from a spoof horror show.

MolyHolyGuacamole · 16/03/2021 16:48

I prefer Pubert.

Time40 · 16/03/2021 16:50

I know what you mean, OP - it does sound lovely.

How about one of the Welsh names that sound similar instead? Morgain, Morgan, Morwenna, Morvaid etc?

ohhmygosh · 16/03/2021 17:46

Ha no, but I do like Wednesday

MimiDaisy11 · 16/03/2021 18:28

I'm sure there's an adult out there who would really suit the name and wear it well (not sure I'd like to meet them lol) but you've no idea what your child will be like. I imagine most would grow up hating it.

MrsMackesy · 16/03/2021 18:33

This reminds me of someone coming on to ask about Lucifer.

I knew a Morty once, but he was a boy and Mortimer.

Once, twice, thrice no.

VinterKvinna · 16/03/2021 18:45

@Soubriquet

I like Lilith Blush

And she can shorten it to Lily

At least it’s a real name

A real name?

Is Wendy a real name?

iklboo · 16/03/2021 18:58

Morrighan is a Celtic goddess of death. At least sounds a bit better than Morticia.

Craftycorvid · 16/03/2021 19:07

Morrighan is very cool but they are very badass death and battle goddesses....on the other hand, 🤔

FluWorldOrder · 16/03/2021 19:28

Love the responses Grin I wouldn’t, but I do like it!

@Gassylady

But Lilith is a biblical name! We’re they very religious?
Lilith was Adam's first wife who then turned out to be a she-devil.
nestlestealswater · 16/03/2021 20:53

It's cute but I wouldn't. I think you might be able to style out Wednesday though, depending on your surname!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 16/03/2021 20:53

Morticia's a purrfect name for a slinky black girl Kitty. But I wouldn't risk it on a DD! Similar Morgana has a more subtle "witchy/dark" feel and is much more useable for a real person imo.

Devlesko · 16/03/2021 21:04

Morticia Wednesday I dare you.
I think it's brilliant and she'll be the only one.
I hate it when the teacher says a name and half a dozen kids put their hand up. Grin

Devlesko · 16/03/2021 21:09

She could have the nn Tish, Tisha, Morti Grin

TripleSeptic · 16/03/2021 21:10

Please don't

StopGo · 16/03/2021 21:28

You do understand that Morticia along with Dementia are made up cartoon names from the Addams Family?

FluWorldOrder · 16/03/2021 21:40

Oh FGS, yes I do. Most names are 'made up'. Lighten up! As I say in the OP I wouldn't, but I'm tempted, because I like the sound of the name. Nevaeh-Mae Destiny Hope it is then.

I'm officially buying a black cat and calling it Morticia. I do like Wednesday. Maybe if it's a DD born on a Wednesday I'll go with that. I doubt DH will be keen though, unfortunately.

@FluWorldOrder I'd missed the lighthearted bit and stupidly thought you were serious :)

sweetnessnfight · 16/03/2021 22:09

Please save this name for a pet, not a poor child!!!!

sweetnessnfight · 16/03/2021 22:10

@SionnachRua

It's a bit like Jezebel. Cracking name but I couldn't do that to a child Grin
