If you really don't like them, please don't comment as I really do and don't want them to feel spoilt as it's taken me ages to draw up a shortlist of names I like but order of preference and any thoughts that aren't mean would be welcome!

Jennie Ellen (especially spelling Jennie this way - I like it better but OH thinks it is "chavvy" and should be spelt Jenny).
Anna Frances
Evelyn Louisa

Jennie Ellen is the best.

lobsteroll · 13/03/2021 23:04

Love Anna Frances but the others are very pretty too.

Captainj1 · 13/03/2021 23:07

Anna or Jennie lovely, I prefer the ie ending as it’s more unusual without being wacky

I’m less of a fan of Evelyn but probably because I know so many and I never know how they want it pronouncing (ever-lin v evil-in)

daisypond · 13/03/2021 23:07

I like all of them.

Happenchance · 13/03/2021 23:15

@Santatizer

Thanks everyone! I know shortened versions aren't to everyone's taste but I called my DS14 a long version of a name I don't love with the intention of using the short version, which I do love! He never goes by the long version and I regret using it tbh. Same with Jennifer / Jennie. I don't mind Jennifer but really like Jennie... Re Evelyn being popular, I don't really mind that too much. I love Anna Frances but find it a "colder sounding" name than Jennie Ellen, which I think has so much warmth. Thanks for all the views ☺️
If your son has a long name, and therefore options about what he wants to be called, your daughter may feel hard done by if she doesn't have the same choice. Jennie may prefer to be known as Jenny with a Y.
Tambourina · 13/03/2021 23:40

Anna Frances

Firebird83 · 14/03/2021 01:45

Jennie or Anna

yuyubooboo · 14/03/2021 01:53

I'd go with Anna Louisa

I really love Louisa especially but Jennie, Ellen and Frances are very dull names to me. Sorry!

sorryforswearing · 14/03/2021 01:59

Love Anna. If I was using Jennie it would be that spelling although she will spend a lot of time telling people it’s not spelt Jenny. It’s not chavvy at all. I love Eve rather than Evelyn. It’s not over common unlike Eva and Evie.

MercyBodle · 14/03/2021 03:01

I like both Jennie Ellen and Anna Frances very much. I love the Jennie spelling too, and prefer it.
I agree with you that there's something very warm about Jennie Ellen.

MrsDoctorDear · 14/03/2021 03:37

I love Jennie Ellen!

Santatizer · 14/03/2021 09:58

Thanks everyone! Thinking about Jennifer on BC now.

To negative commenters - I see plenty of threads where people ask for opinions on their final few and I don't like them. I'd never bother saying so because THEY clearly do and that's what matters. Disinterested if you think they don't flow or are boring names (tbh I think Mumsnet is a bit weird for this and there are many more children out there with names classed as "beige/bland" by Mumsnet than otherwise), I didn't ask for those opinions and made it very clear that I'd rather you didn't give them. Can't stop you, of course, but can't see what pleasure it brings you to do so.

Thanks to all the lovely posters who have given their opinion on my shortlist without being rude and supercilious!

I've not read all the comments but...
Anna Frances is my favourite.
Evelyn Louisa is a nice name but Evelyn is so boringly common nowadays. I much much prefer Louisa Evelyn which would make it my favourite by far.
Jennie Ellen - I agree with your husband I'm afraid. Again I much prefer Ellen to Jenny. Jenny Ellen sounds sort of sing-songy.

Looking at your names as a whole I think the nicest three are Louisa, Ellen and Anna.
Louisa Evelyn, Anna Frances, Ellen Louisa and Ellen Frances would be my picks if I could mix them up.

Notgotanyidea · 14/03/2021 10:01

Love Anna Frances and Jenny Louisa

partyatthepalace · 14/03/2021 13:45

Of you options in order:
Jennie Ellen - Jennie unusual these days - it’s not ‘chavvy’ with ie - and I can tell you that for a fact because I know two v posh Jennies! However I do think it’s a nn not a full name (especially if your DH wants to avoid being ‘chavvy’) so I’d register her as Jennifer or Genevieve.

Anna Frances is beautiful but Anna is getting very popular

Evelyn Louisa is also lovely but Evelyn is very popular and has the added annoyance of 3 or 4 different pronunciations

However the name I like best on your list is actually Frances, followed by Louisa - so if it were me I would go for Frances Anna, or otherwise Louisa Evelyn

Awalkinthefreshair · 14/03/2021 16:01

I'm a Jenny (Jennifer on BC).
I very rarely use Jennifer. The only people who call me by my full name have been doctors or teachers (I think this is the reason why I don't like being called Jennifer as I associate it with formal situations).
As a child I always wanted to spell my name with an "ie" (Jennie) but my parents chose to spell it Jenny.
I still had relatives writing Jennie in cards though, so I don't think it makes a difference.

Awalkinthefreshair · 14/03/2021 16:15

@elliemara

Ah these are all lovely! 😍 We must have similar taste in names! In terms of preference I'd leave them in exactly this order - though I would agree with your OH that Jenny is better than Jennie. She'd spend her life correcting people otherwise!
I'm a Jenny with a "y" and surprisingly more people have assumed it is spelt Jennie. I always wanted it spelt with an "ie" as a child and tried to customise it myself.
KirstenBlest · 14/03/2021 16:34

Anna Frances.
Don't like Evelyn at all, and Jenny is a better spelling for Jennifer's day-to-day name.

Amdone123 · 14/03/2021 16:46

I like all of them, but Evelyn is the loveliest. Love Anna, it's a classic. Jennifer is a lovely name, and not many about.

Marty13 · 14/03/2021 16:50

Haha OP you should have known it was a lost cause. People will give their (negative) opinion because they must. Ignore them ! I love Martin for a boy but never would ask on here because I know everyone would hate on it.

Anyway ! I actually like Evelyn the most out of your list. I prefer longish names that can be affectionately nicknamed and Evelyn has a ton of potential nicknames (Eve, Evie, Lyn) and sounds great.

For middle I like Frances. Second place would be Louise.

However... I kinda get the impression that your heart is set on Jennie Ellen already ? If so go for it !

ellenpartridge · 14/03/2021 17:00

I would go for Anna Frances or Evelyn Louisa. I like both, not sure which one tips it. Personally much prefer these over Jennie Ellen.

lobsteroll · 14/03/2021 17:05

I knew people would be mean despite you asking them not to be.

I always think this kind of person must be quite unhappy in real life if they get some kind of kick out of being unpleasant for no reason whatsoever.

Lillylola · 15/03/2021 05:41

They are all pretty solid names I think my preferences is Anna Frances ! Second Evelyn third Jennie. Other suggestions of the longer version
Jane
Eugenia

AnxiousAnnie86 · 15/03/2021 07:33

@Santatizer I love Evelyn!! Also I love Ellen as a first name it's on my list!! X

pilates · 15/03/2021 07:38
