Hey

I have really really struggled to get this shortlist together but these are my final 6 names to choose between for a girl! Please no more name suggestions as I have been so confused so just want to pick one now.

Please vote for your favourite if you would like. Exhausted from looking!!!

Grin

Xanthe Karen
Dahlia Pearl
Esme Amelia
Margot Emmeline
Ailsa Renee
Romilly Eden

@Starsandglitter

I love Romilly! It was on my list for baby 2 but he was a boy. Cute nickname potential of Romy too. I think I’d choose Romilly Pearl though. Beautiful x
I definitely prefer Romy to Milly

@daisypond

I’m a bit confused by all the different middle names too. If you want Karen for your mum, then it should be Karen for all.

I like all your first names, except Esme. It’s too bland and wet.

I don't necessarily want Karen only if it sounds ok. Or I could add it as a 2nd middle name. I have taken your feedback on board though

Amelia doesn’t “really” mean absence of limbs, though. It’s come about as a random vowel change over time turning the original Amalia (meaning hard-working) into Amelia which just happens to mean, as a Latin word, limbless. Amelia really means hard-working.

I like Romilly or Dahlia from your list.
Eden is really lovely.

DramaAlpaca · 13/03/2021 16:56

Ailsa, with Emmeline as the middle name

Allgirlskidsanddogs · 13/03/2021 16:56

Middle names to me are about significance and connection, so I would use Karen.

Xanthe Karen, like it
Dahlia Pearl, not keen on either
Esme Amelia, too samey
Margot Emmeline, love it
Ailsa Renee, I like Ailsa but not Renee
Romilly Eden, I like Romilly (made my short list!) but not Eden

So my vote would be for any of these!
Xanthe Karen
Margot Karen
Ailsa Karen
Romilly Karen

EvilOnion · 13/03/2021 17:03

Xanthe Amelia
Romilly Karen
Ailsa Pearl

CeibaTree · 13/03/2021 17:07

If I had to pick two names from your list I'd go for Margot Pearl - but I realise that Margot means Pearl! So in that case I'd pick Romilly Pearl. Good luck choosing :)

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 13/03/2021 17:14

Amelia Pearl

partyatthepalace · 13/03/2021 17:38

I’d go for Ailsa Amelia or perhaps Ailsa Amelia Pearl - just because Ailsa is nice and underused

Margot and Esme are nice too, but there are a lot of them - but if you don’t mind that they are nice in combination - Margot Esme or Esme Margot both work well - and you could stick Karen on the end of either of these. Of the two I’d go for Margot as a first name.

Not keen on the rest of them - Dahlia, Romily and Xanthe I think are fussy and Renee just a bit naff.

NeedSomeInfoAgain · 13/03/2021 18:42

My vote is for Alisa Karen or Ailsa Emmeline. I know a teenage Ailsa and have always thought it's a lovely name that can't be pigeon-holed. Can be misheard as Elsa though.

NeedSomeInfoAgain · 13/03/2021 19:18

From your list I would combine Ailsa Karen or Ailsa Emmeline Smile.

NeedSomeInfoAgain · 13/03/2021 19:20

Sorry, the first post disappeared and now I have it twice. Apologies!

EileenGC · 13/03/2021 19:24

Margot Emmeline or Ailsa Renee. Beautiful combinations. Or Ailsa Emmeline, even better!

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/03/2021 19:57

Without changing the middle names (as I only really love Eden and Emmeline anyway, but the first names are much more important) so:

1.Dahlia Pearl (lovely and elegant, are you pronouncing it Day -lia or Dah-lia? I like both)
2.Xanthe Karen (classical cool)
3.Romilly Eden (prefer Romola but Romilly's nice too)
4.Esme Amelia (I love "Es-May" but dislike "Es- mee", which are you using?)
5.Ailsa Renee (I prefer Elsa, Ailsa is "Home and Away" to me - showing my age )

  1. Margot Emmeline (I find Margot too trendy, sorry)
MercyBodle · 14/03/2021 06:06

My favourites are Romilly and Xanthe.

micc · 14/03/2021 06:14

Romilly Eden all the way!
I love both of those! Romilly is so under used. So many nice nn.
Eden is lovely too and an uncommon middle name so it sounds great!

MuddleMoo · 14/03/2021 06:28

Ailsa is a great first name

movingmelly · 20/03/2021 02:02

Esme Amelia is gorgeous ❤️
Easily the best out of the options
