Hi

Thoughts on a girl called Ophira Sapphire. Ophira is pronounced o-feer-a.

I have a Freya already

Ok so thats a resounding No then 🤣. Back to the drawing board. I needed to hear it, sometimes it is blinding how many names are out there and trying to make them work.

I have some normalish names but also somr unusual ones on my list so feel quite clueless right now 😭

Ophira is very unusual and a touch soundalike with popular Freya (and will likely be confused with more well known Ophelia too). Sapphire is a fun middle name though.

How about Lara, Cora, Iris, Thalia or Gaia? - all have mythological links like Freya.

sammylilac · 11/03/2021 21:15

Really not keen sorry!

sweetnessnfight · 11/03/2021 21:26

@HardcoreParkour

Ophira is nice but Sapphire sounds a bit 'American stripper' to me.
I agree with this
8dpwoah · 11/03/2021 21:32

What about Amira? It's a real name so that's a start 😂 similar vibe but different enough to Freya (which I think is lovely for what it's worth).

If you really love Ophira it could work as a middle name.

Whatalottachocca · 11/03/2021 21:33

Ophir gin & Bombay Sapphire gin popped into my head too. I don’t think it’s a good idea. 😳

ManxRhyme · 11/03/2021 21:43

Please not candida. No one deserves to be named after thrush.

SleepingStandingUp · 11/03/2021 21:45

It is good gin though op, once baby is here of course.

Ophir is a brand of gin.
Bombay Sapphire is a brand of gin.

Everyone will secretly think you have a gin problem.

Elambert83 · 12/03/2021 08:19

I do also have quite a few of these ones

I never made the gin connection at all Shock

WilsonMilson · 12/03/2021 08:27

Sorry, I think Ophira Sapphire sounds like a stripper name, but that’s possibly just the Sapphire part. Also, I made the gin connection too.

Carolina24 · 12/03/2021 19:30

Terrible. They are both varieties of gin..?

Cam2020 · 12/03/2021 19:33

My first thought was gin too (the lovechild of Opihr and Bombay Sapphire).

BunnyRuddington · 12/03/2021 22:31

If you have a Freya already, it might be too similar. Are you definitely having a girl?

LuluJakey1 · 12/03/2021 22:32

Hideous- both of them. Pretentious and ridiculous.

BunnyRuddington · 12/03/2021 22:35

From your other names I'd go for Xanthe. It's not pretentious, it's a lovely name and very different from Freya.

MarthaJonesPhone · 12/03/2021 22:40

I think Martha goes really well with Freya.

Sh05 · 12/03/2021 22:46

Esmeralda Esme for short

BunnyRuddington · 12/03/2021 22:48

We know sisters who are Freya and Scarlet.

BackforGood · 12/03/2021 22:56

Glad you've decided against. Definitely sounds like the name of a car to me.

From your list I quite like :
Margot
Martha
Eloise
Amelia
Zara
Stephanie

MrsAmaretto · 12/03/2021 23:23

What about sticking with Norse/ Nordic names?
