Thoughts on the boy’s name Nori?

Nori, Dori, Pin and Gloin. Hobbit dwarves.

It's a Scottish surname when it's spelled Norrie.

I think of a Japanese friend called Norika we call her Nori. So it's a girls name for me

I understand it's a Japanese name but I also associate it with sushi, sorry. Do you have Japanese links or could you maybe consider similar Ori? - it's a Hebrew boys name. Alternatively you could use Ori as a nn for Oliver, Orlando, Orrin, Orion etc.

Isn’t it North Kardashian-West’s nickname? That was my first thought. Never heard of it as a shortening of Norman.

I like the name Noi, I think it's the character's name in the storm whale

I think it's nice. When I saw it I thought of Hey Duggee but DS is Duggee mad so used to hearing it a lot.
Every time I see DS's name I either see it being referred to as a dogs name or the Tweenies. Even though Tweenies is what 20 years old? Point is if you like it go for it, don't be put off by what other people say .

It’s Norrie not Nori. But as Norman is dying out as a name and Norrie/Nori is very similar to Noorie / Nora and other girls names ppl would consider it a feminine name.

That's what I thought of when I read the name "Nori", I assumed it was a nickname for someone called Norris.

Milo? It’s funny the things people come away with when it’s not something you’ve ever thought 🤔 I think the harsh reaction on here is enough to put me off if that’s what everyone else is going to think. I have a definite future girls name picked that starts with N so just thought it went so much better than the other names I’m considering but I think I should just pick one I like and not think about anyone else

Norm is the only nickname for Norman that I have ever heard of.

Also 'are you ignori me?' sort of thing other kids might say? Sounds a bit like Nora too. Just saying.
