I really like the name but also want a not very popular name so he isn't one of several in the class etc! Do you know many Fredericks or Freddies?

It's lovely!

I know a few. Off the top of my head, I can think of three. They were all born at similar times as well. They are all around 3 maybe 4 years old now.

I haven't heard of any recently though, so think it may have had a brief peak and now not so popular?

Have you checked names.darkgreener? It shows what a name is doing in terms of popularity. Make sure you check Frederick, Freddy and maybe Fred.

If our DD had been a boy she'd have been a Frederick.

In 2018 there were very few fredericks born. Lots of Freddie's though.

Our DS is called James and that had similar numbers to Freddie. While I've heard James a few times in the playground, he's not had another in his class yet.

I think Freddie is less popular than it was. I know several in their 20s.

My boy is Frederick. But Fred to us. Not Freddie. He corrects them if the say it. We love the name Fred.

If you're wanting to maximise chances of no others in class etc I'd suggest ignoring every name in the top 100 or top 150

I really like the name Freddie though by the way

There were more than 4000 boys named variations of Frederick or Freddie last year, so it is a very popular name - statistically he'd be likely to meet another one in either a hobby/sports group at some point or at school (depending on school size).

Having said that, it's a lovely classic name that shouldn't date too much. Only you can decide if it's popularity would bother you.

I know a fair few aged between 1 and 3. If you are worried about it being popular I'd chose something out of the top 100.

I'm due a boy in May and this is my front runner: Frederick with nn of Fred/Freddie.

I have worried it might be too popular too, but I only know 1 Freddie and he's very far removed from my circle.
