My DH really likes the name Hailey Elizabeth. I’m warming to it, what are your thoughts on Hailey? Is the name about these days? Pretty name? Thanks!

Hi OP, I think it's a little drab, truthfully. Would you consider Hazel? Sounds kind of similar, but I think more sophisticated and the ending not being an "ee" sound would be nice with your other daughters' names.

BallsToYouSue · 17/02/2021 18:41

I like Katie too, but I'd probably put Kate on the BC.

Unreasonabubble · 17/02/2021 18:41

Hailey is the American way of spelling it. Hayley is the British way. If you go with the American way, she will have to spend her whole life correcting everyone.

Hayley is an absolute fab name.

DramaAlpaca · 17/02/2021 18:42

I quite like Hayley, it always strikes me for some reason as a very happy name.

I do prefer Kate/Katie though.

Amdone123 · 17/02/2021 18:55

It is so dated to me. I don't like it at all.
Katie goes perfectly with your other 2.

Mrstwiddle · 17/02/2021 18:57

I would swop the first name and middle name round, Elizabeth is lovely and classic, Hailey a lot less so (whatever way it’s spelt)

DavidsSchitt · 17/02/2021 19:55

Nice but i'd spell it HAYLEY

DavidsSchitt · 17/02/2021 19:56

Wow. Not sure why I'm shouting 😂

SeanChailleach · 17/02/2021 20:50

I love the name Hailey, however you spell it. Also Kayleigh, which it will sometimes get misheard for.

bourbonne · 17/02/2021 21:15

@Gentlerose30

I read that Hayley was the least common way to spell it!? Maybe that’s just in America!
Yep defo - here Hayley is most common. It comes from Hayley Mills, who got it from her mother's maiden name - no history as a girl's name before that.

It feels dated and a little down-market to me, but I think it's a bit younger and more classless in the US (where they tend to spell it Hailey etc).

I don't think it goes with Sophie and Lucy at all, they're quite classic names and Hayley isn't, I think Katie (Katherine) is a better fit. As an adult, I would much rather be called Kate than Hayley.

Firebird83 · 18/02/2021 01:21

Kate Elizabeth or Kate Amelia would be nice.

Enough4me · 18/02/2021 01:29

Katherine (Katie) gets my vote.

CattyCactus · 18/02/2021 01:33

I don’t think Hayley goes with Sophie and Lucy.
Kate does.
Or what about Alice? An equally classic name in the Sophie / Lucy mould.

Megan2018 · 18/02/2021 01:39

I like Hayley, Hailey just makes me think of that awful Hailey Baldwin and doesn’t look right with your sibling names.

Katie does go better with your other names though I think.

greyballoo · 18/02/2021 02:06

I don't like hailey but love Hallie. Names are weird as much as I don't like it now it might be the cutest name ever next year. And not sure how one letter changes wether a name is lovely or horrible

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 18/02/2021 02:13

Hayley is a very pretty name , can’t abide Katie , too twee .

Losttheequipment · 18/02/2021 02:15

I like it, but her life will be easier if you use Hayley

Julianamechange · 18/02/2021 02:21

Awful name (sorry).

At school it wasn’t one of the ‘nice’ names.
