Girls Names to go with surname Lowe

Paxpax · 16/02/2021 02:26

We are expecting a baby in June and I am struggling with girls names. Our last name is Lowe and I keep falling in love with a girls name, only to pair it with Lowe (pronounced low) and find it looks/sounds ridiculous.

Some recent examples

Sol Lowe
Lola Lowe
Willow Lowe
Margot Lowe
Juno Lowe
Florence (nn Flo) Lowe

Obviously I should stay away from "o" sounds...

Does anyone have similar names that will be a better match for the surname?

Thanks

Florence Lowe is lovely but Flo Lowe is a bit rhymey.

How about:

Thea Lowe
Georgia Lowe
Sage Lowe
Imogen Lowe
Amelia Lowe
Olivia Lowe

The two famous ones I can think of are Natalie Lowe and Daisy Lowe, both ending in an 'ee' sound -something like that might might work?
Bethany

Clemency
Emily/Emilia
Bryony
Felicity
Jennifer/Jennie/Jenny

Avoid L and O in the first name and you're mostly fine. Both are popular sounds at the moment, so it's not surprising a lot of the names you're thinking of have them!

Personally I think 2+ syllables is best too.

Jessica Lowe
Katherine Lowe
Matilda Lowe
Maria Lowe
Cara Lowe
Poppy Lowe
Emma Lowe
Emily Lowe

However, maybe not Beatrice (Bea Lowe).

More nature-y:

Bryony Lowe
Ivy Lowe
Aster Lowe
Daisy Lowe (or is this someone famous...?)
Gaia Lowe
Stella Lowe
Serena Lowe
Sabrina Lowe

I know a family Low. The daughter has a name off your original list 🤔.
It seems to go okay? 😁.
I guess if you say something often enough together it just sounds normal to the ear.

partyatthepalace · 16/02/2021 08:07

Do you know it’s a girl? Ideally I think you want 3 (or 4) syllables to balance the short surname, and a perhaps a slightly sharper sound to balance the softness

Eg Felicity Lowe, Celia Lowe, Imogen Lowe

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 16/02/2021 11:51

Amelia Lowe
Daisy Lowe
Jasmine Lowe
Jessica Lowe
Katie Lowe
Gracie Lowe
Rebecca Lowe
Bethany Lowe
Nancy Lowe
Christie Lowe

You've got to reduce the L and O sounds in the first name and I'd go for something longer. Names ended in T, A or Y sounds would probably work best although you can get away with an E if it's a longer name.
Penelope Lowe (ooh that's got the L O though....)
Amelia / Emelia Lowe
Clementine Lowe
Maisie Lowe
Phoebe Lowe
Poppy Lowe
Scarlett Lowe
Margaret / Maggie Lowe
Victoria Lowe
Beatrice Lowe (although Bea Lowe doesn't really work!)
Emery Lowe
Pandora Lowe
Constance / Connie Lowe
Madeleine/ Maddy Lowe
Natasha Lowe
Tabitha Lowe
Cerys / Carys Lowe
Edith Lowe

Ditch names that are vowel heavy with one or more L.

Lila, Lily, Ellie, Isla etc are out.
You'd get away with Lucy as there is another strong consanant.

Ditch names that end in an o sound.
Margot, Willow, Juno etc are out.

Watch out for nn, like Flo Lowe

You might want to avoid Arthur, Robert and Zane for a boy.

Kate Bele's mum is Judy and her surname sounds like Low

PatchworkElmer · 16/02/2021 12:18

Ivy

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 16/02/2021 18:00

I think 3/4 syllables - without another "oh" sound, but perhaps a repeated L could sound nice/lyrical.

Elizabeth
Julia/Juliet
Celia/Cecilia
Thalia
Madeleine
Malia
Evelyn/Evelina
Adeline
Helena
Claudia
Alicia
Louisa - very alliterative/glam sounding with Lowe
Lilian - as above

Unfucked · 16/02/2021 18:05

I love Katherine Lowe and Madeleine Lowe.

Longer names like Alexandra and Henrietta seem to work best.

BallsToYouSue · 16/02/2021 18:11

Anna Lowe
Audrey Lowe
Bryony Lowe
Ruby Lowe
Rosanna Lowe
Verity Lowe
Emmeline Lowe
Sylvie Lowe
Summer Lowe
Adeline Lowe
Gaia Lowe
Gabriella Lowe

yogamatted · 16/02/2021 18:11

I agree with pp, avoid Os and Ls
I would go for something pronounced with the emphasis on first syllable, I think that's why pps 3 or 4 syllable names above work well.

Justine Lowe
Kathryn Lowe
Marianne
Yasmin or Jasmine

Happenchance · 16/02/2021 18:20

Magda
Valentina
Marianne
Harriet
Henrietta

rosy71 · 16/02/2021 18:27

Emma Lowe
Emily Lowe
June Lowe instead of Juno, especially if born in June
Daisy Lowe

rosy71 · 16/02/2021 18:28

Lucy Lowe sounds nice, despite to 2 ls.

Potcallingkettle · 16/02/2021 18:34

Justine
Felicity
Margaret
Elizabeth - Lizzie Lowe would be quite cool
Helena
Phoebe
