I’ve always loved the name Harriet and I like it’s nickname Hattie.

My DH hasn’t ruled it out but isn’t sure.

Can I have some honest thoughts please?

I love it! Not keen on Hattie as a NN though.

We love it and it's on our list if baby due in spring is a girl!

I don't like it at all although objectively there is nothing wrong with it. I don't like Charlotte either, so it must be the harsh T. Love Henrietta though.

Thanks all. It seems like it’s largely liked and not a ‘marmite’ name.

Harriet doesn't have a harsh 't' at the end. The emphasis is all at the beginning of the name. HARRY-et. It's a lovely name.

I love it! Such a cute name and I think with so many possible nicknames it would suit a girly girl or a Tom boy- just lovely! X

I like it! I'm a fan of girls names with a definite ending e.g. Harriet, Charlotte, Robyn, Imogen, Alice, Madeleine, Florence etc. as I think they sound stronger than the many 'ee' or 'uh' endings. Harriet is a good one as there are multiple nickname choices e.g. Hattie, Harry/ie, Etta, Hat...

It's not an overused name although I'm aware it's more popular than it used to be. I know of a couple of Harriets in their 30s/40s, a couple of older teenaged Harriets and three aged six or below.

I love Harriet but dislike Hattie.

I love Hettie but dislike Henrietta.

I do love Harrietta... with potential for nn Hettie or Etta, both of which I love.

I love it, really cute.

Thank you for all the comments. My DH seems to be warming to it too

It's lovely.

Sorry, but I think it's so plain and frumpy.

But solidly and unmistakably middle class. Which is why MN adores it.

I love it - went to school with a girl called Hattie and she was lovely, I say go for it!
