Noah and Isaac?

I’m expecting my second little boy in April and really like the name Isaac. My DS1 is called Noah Lucas and this ones middle name would be Daniel. But I worry whether Noah and Isaac are too biblical together?. Or does it not matter because they’re both quite popular names.

Why would ‘biblical’ be negative?

PolarnOPirate · 13/02/2021 12:28

Well, if you’re not religious it might be a bit weird to have kids will all biblical names. Names say something about the parents, hence this whole message board! I once met an Abednego and rightly assumed his parents were Christian.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 13/02/2021 12:55

Perhaps, but they are both so popular as not to say very much about their parents at all.

‘Biblical’ is used in a strange way on this board, usually to mean ‘slightly obscure Old Testament / Hebrew’. Daniel, Peter and David are rarely dismissed as ‘too biblical’.

DreamingInColours · 13/02/2021 12:55

Because they're popular at the moment, I wouldn't assume any biblical connection.
Lovely names BTW!

I know an Isaac and Noah. There's a strong biblical connotation for me so I wouldn't choose them (I'm atheist) but I do love the names regardless.

I know a Noah and Jonah. People haven't commented. Noah and Isaacs are lovely names.

I don’t think anyone would say that about siblings called Michael and Joanna, though. So many traditional names are biblical and many people have little idea.

Isaac is lovely but brace yourself for the misspellings!

HideTanner · 13/02/2021 13:07

I know loads of OT sibsets. It's pretty common.

jumpyturtles · 13/02/2021 13:42

Thank you everyone, it’s nice to have some outsider opinions. I think I’m going to go ahead with Isaac!. Also to the poster asking why biblical is negative, it isn’t, it’s just that I’m not super religious and didn’t want it to seem weird

Yes. When MNers describe a name as ‘biblical’ they almost always mean Hebrew.

ILoveShula · 13/02/2021 13:59

A bit biblical, but nobody would think that about David and Samuel, so yes, why not.

Newnamefor2021 · 13/02/2021 14:09

Sister in law has a Noah and then an Issac. Our family have almost all biblical names though 😆 I'm atheist 😆

Love51 · 13/02/2021 14:17

I vaguely know an Isaac and Noah sibset. They are very popular names, so individually I would think anything of them. Together it might cross my mind they could be Jewish but I'd either not know or eventually find out I'm right or wrong. It doesn't really matter if I have that thought.
I'd think Jewish though, not Christian, no idea why.

Isaac is a name people sometimes struggle to spell, so don't use it if you are easily offended!

Like I just did 😂 I do know how to spell it by my brain always puts double s rather than double a for some reason.
jumpyturtles · 13/02/2021 18:15

Not too bothered about the spelling! My name has a few different spellings and I’ve always got on fine with it.

I think it’s nice to have names with a similar theme e.g. 2 royal names such as George and William. Isaac is a great name and goes really well with Noah. Love the middle names too!

finallychangedmyusername · 15/02/2021 19:30

Noah and Isaac is perfect. Agree that they are not too religious together.

Annamaywong25 · 15/02/2021 19:35

Both nice names. I also like Malachi.
