Mouse.

Nellephant · 08/02/2021 17:44

We thought DD was ginger (which would have been odd as neither dp nor I are), turns out it was cradle cap Grin

Lelophants · 08/02/2021 18:05

Neither? Baby hair is an odd mixed colour. Most redheads I know have no hair for the first year.

UnusuallyUsual · 08/02/2021 18:12

It's hard to say with the cradle cap. The baby's hair will change colour in the next few months anyway...

Itsokthanks · 08/02/2021 18:16

Light brown with a bit of red.
Why do you ask?

albertsquirrelnuts · 08/02/2021 18:19

My son was born with dark blond hair. He's two now and his hair is so ginger it's almost fluorescent, it's brilliant! None of our immediate family have red hair.

MerryChristmasToYou · 08/02/2021 18:36

Auburn or Bay

Peacenquiet2 · 08/02/2021 18:58

I have 3 dc, first was born with ginger hair and is now most definitely a blond, second born with ginger hair and is now a lively Auburn, third born ginger and is blond like first dc, so it changes as time goes on

cautiouscovidity · 08/02/2021 19:02

It's really hard to tell on a young baby with not much hair but I'd say light brown to be honest.

Whatever colour it is now, it'll almost certainly change over the next few years.

MotherExtraordinaire · 08/02/2021 20:38

It's a lovely shade of cradle cap. I'd be more worried about sorting that, as its took us 5 plus years!

strawberriesontheNeva · 08/02/2021 20:57

Brown maybe

strawberriesontheNeva · 08/02/2021 20:58

DS had ginger hair when he was born, then it became even more ginger before a beautiful strawberry blond and I couldn’t bear to cut it. Now it’s fading to brown. I suspect you will have a ginger then strawberry blond toddler. They do look sweet with ginger hair

Sausagedog1 · 08/02/2021 22:48

It looks blonde, maybe a bit strawberry. The cradle cap isn't that bad at all and completely normal.

mandyxx · 09/02/2021 11:36

Thanks yes everyone is mentioning cradle
Cap. I have been using coconut oil and a special cradle cap brush to deal with it. So
To the woman who said “you better deal with cradle cap instead” who I find quite rude can keep her comment to herself. Also I have seen many picture of cradle cap and my darling girl doesn’t have it half as bad.
Is it just me or does anyone else find people on mumnset incredibly rude and bully like?

I find you rude. That is all. Goodbye.

mandyxx · 09/02/2021 11:43

Myself and partner have dark hair too. Maybe our baby girl will go dark too haha

Longtalljosie · 09/02/2021 11:49

Speaking as the mother of two redheads, I find you pretty bloody rude. Give your head a wobble.

mandyxx · 09/02/2021 12:06

Can you explain why you find me rude? I think you are the rude one coming onto my post and being nasty. God who knew asking what colour people think my baby girl hair is would trigger such toxicity.

Grin
Reinventinganna · 09/02/2021 12:13

Be careful with coconut oil on cradle cap.

mandyxx · 09/02/2021 12:16

Reinventinganna, do you recommend something else? I saw some
Special shampoos on Amazon but haven’t purchased yet, I just used Johnson’s baby oil at first, then comb off flakes etc and someone said use coconut oil so
I tried that. but what is best to
Use? At first I thought it just dry skin? Any advice be much appreciated thanks.

Mine both had similar colour hair as babies and cradle cap which makes it look gingery (I didn’t bother treating the cradle cap, it goes on its own eventually)
At 4, DS has gone strawberry blonde, gold blonde and now dark blonde. I think he’ll go dark brown with reddish tints like his dad
At 2 DD2 is strawberry blonde and I imagine she’ll head the same way as DS.

Reinventinganna · 09/02/2021 12:34

@mandyxx we used warm (not hot) olive oil.
