Hi, I like both of these names for different reasons. I'm looking for peoples responses to each. thank you in advance.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
xmouse · 05/02/2021 13:10

I'm an Allison, but with two L's. I am a child of the late 60's so you don't get many nowadays and yes I would have had a perm and worn blue eye shadow back in the 80's along with everyone else I knew then....🤣
I didn't know any other alison's growing up but it is Scottish I believe, although my mum says I was named after a character on a tv drama called Peyton Place.
A more modern twist may be Alicia or Alice which are less likely to be shortened to Ali.

YoniAndGuy · 05/02/2021 17:02

Neither - I don't like the nicknames. Hate Ali on a girl, Andrina would be And/Andi.

Love Anna - classic, elegant, international. Annie is a cute short form.

JellyTots2009 · 05/02/2021 18:22

Three Alison in my year at school and I'm early thirties so there are a few about.
I don't know any Alison's now so maybe bring it back OP

Thefaceofboe · 05/02/2021 18:41

Alison is nice but agree a bit dated. What about Alicia / Alyssa? Or something along them lines x

Andrina just reminds me of android or drains.

I really like Andrina - also reminds me of the ballet books but I don’t think they’re still popular.

Slightly prefer it to Alison, although I like that name as well. You could always use both? Alison Andrina flows quite nicely.

HenriettaHeffalump · 05/02/2021 20:22

Alison

BiBabbles · 05/02/2021 20:36

Neither...sorry

MarleyTheDog · 05/02/2021 20:47

Alison was a very popular name when I was in school in the (ahem) 60/70's. I haven't heard it for years until I heard of 2 babies born within the last 6/7 months being named Alison. Maybe it's making a comeback?

partyatthepalace · 05/02/2021 20:59

Prefer Alison, a solid name (though I think both Alice and Alicia are much nicer)

Andrina I really don’t like, although there are similar names eg Adriana that are quite nice

MercyBodle · 06/02/2021 00:29

Smileandtheworldsmileswithyou · 06/02/2021 02:36

Alison is horrible, sorry

BeanieB2020 · 06/02/2021 02:45

Prefer Andrea to Andrina

Alison is OK but it's a bit dated?

DarcyJack · 06/02/2021 03:03

Love Alison- definitely due a revival and now sounds really fresh to me. Alice on the other hand seems very over used.

InvisibleMoonDancer · 06/02/2021 03:30

Not keen on either of these although Alice is a pretty alternative?
Or Anya?

LeonaMar · 06/02/2021 07:26

I prefer Audrina to Andrina. Actually find Audrina really pretty.

A names on my list were Adelaide, Ada, Annaliese and Annabel.
