middle name for tobias

hi, i really like the name tobias for a boy. we’ve settled on angel as a middle name, and our last name begins with D and is two syllables. we’d like another middle name to go before angel.

tobias ___ angel D

we’ve only considered levi so far, but are unsure even though it sounds quite nice.

any suggestions would be great!

I love Toby, it was on my shortlist for DS.
Levi is also a great name but I'd save it, personally, in case you ever have another boy!

I always think middle names should be family names, especially if baby will only have one surname from one side of the family, it's nice to have a middle name from the other side.
My children have two surnames (mine and DH's), DC1 has a middle name from my side and DC2 has a middle name from DH's side.

I think a NOT two-syllable name would flow best. Either one-syllable like Heath, Jay, John, Mark, or longer, like Alexander, Benjamin, Gideon, Jeremy. Assuming there are no family names you'd like to use for sentimental reasons.

I would find the flow of two-syllables a bit clunky when Angel and Surname also have two syllables.

A traditional two syllable name would fit well I think:

On a separate note, @toolazytothinkofausername mentioned initials TJ might be a problem. Could you fill me in on that, please? What's wrong with TJ?

I don't think there is anything wrong with TJ, but if you wanted a specific nickname, such as Toby, others may call him TJ and that might stick instead.

Tobias is a wonderful name !!

I like it with James and it sounds ok as TJ if it's ever nicknamed as so.

The Biblical 'Tobias and the Angel' is quite a story! Not a bad one - it has a happy ending. But it's pretty action-packed. It's been the subject of paintings, a play and an opera. I suppose it might be rather magical for a child to know that they were named after a character who befriended an angel unawares.

No idea. I think Tobias Angel will be a hard name to live up to.
