Culturally appropriate?

So....

The name Vida is a strong contender for our baby girl due soon! I know that the name has Spanish origin, however have also seen that is has Persian and Islamic links.

I just want to make sure that the name is culturally appropriate, as I/we have links to neither!! What are your thoughts? Or what kind of background do you envisage when you hear the name? (If that makes sense!)

@StillWeRise

it's short for Davida isn't it? If anything I'd think Jewish?
Yes, it’s short for Davida. So if you think David would be appropriate for your cultural back ground, so is Vida

Vita Sackville West was Victoria

Yes I wouldn’t attach it to any one culture - maybe Spanish?- but it sounds more international than that. So fine. I prefer Vita though.

I think it’s a name that doesn’t have an obvious cultural root so therefore is appropriate. Whereas I personally think calling a white British baby Vinay or Olutemi is not appropriate. Vida also has some European roots which makes it more acceptable as names have been used across countries for ages - nobody would bat an eyelid if you used Fleur or Marco...
