Hi all, I have a baby due in April and my two top girls' names are Rae and Wren. Just wondering which people prefer? Thanks!

Wren, lovely name

AuntieStella · 29/01/2021 14:15

Or perhaps Kylo, Padme or Yoda?

calimommy · 29/01/2021 19:05

I think using the spelling Rei as short for Reiltin is a much preferable idea 👍

VenusClapTrap · 29/01/2021 23:44

I like Wren a lot.

Emmylou292 · 30/01/2021 13:17

I love Wren.
My Gran always called be Wren as a child (in connection with my real name).

My user name isn't my RL name by the way!

Kottbullar · 30/01/2021 13:24

Wren is lovely. There's a wren that visits our garden it's adorable.

Not keen on Rae. It looks clunky and the mans name Ray isn't great.
For some reason it makes me think of line dancing, that may or may not be a good thing.

AbstractHeart · 30/01/2021 13:25

I really wanted to name DD Rae but DH vetoed it because "it's a boys name" Sad

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 30/01/2021 13:28

Wren is pretty, but I prefer Linnet.

Rae is nice, but has been ruined by being hyphenated on to way too many names recently

Onedaysomedaynowadays · 30/01/2021 13:32

Ren or Ray essentially. Don't like either. Very fashionable at the moment so think they'll date badly too, think Susan, Marilyn etc

I adore the name Linnet. I have spent the last 12 years trying to get random Mumsnetters to use the name - I don’t have girls myself!

Another for Wren

DuchenneParent · 30/01/2021 17:45

Wren is pretty.

Rae reminds me of an unpleasant older man called Ray I used to know.

Crimblecrumble1990 · 30/01/2021 18:04

'Which do you prefer'...

...'neither'.

Not really an answer is it? Why bother posting?

I prefer Wren, I know a baby Wren and she's gorgeous. But she is dainty, it certainly wouldn't have suited me... I am sure she will also grow up to be accomplished and respected which in my experience has absolutely no relation to what name someone has for those posters who suggests it does. Odd.

GintyMcGinty · 30/01/2021 18:05

Not keen on Rae but Wren is truly awful.

joystir59 · 30/01/2021 18:08

Rae

joystir59 · 30/01/2021 18:09

I know a lovely puppy called Wren

Arrierttyclock · 31/01/2021 21:27

Wren

nicslackey · 31/01/2021 21:30

I was a wren as in WRNS so it sounds like a rank to me and not a christian name!

PurplePansy05 · 31/01/2021 21:32

Rae. Wren makes me think of Wren Kitchens.

danascully96 · 31/01/2021 23:26

Wren by far. Rae is a bit crass to me unfortunately.

Everyotherday · 31/01/2021 23:45

I prefer Wren over Rae but both are nice. Raven could be a longer name for Rae but I’m not sure if you’ll like that name

MercyBodle · 01/02/2021 00:56

I like Wren. Rae has nice enough sounds but I've known several who are now older women, and it just doesn't appeal to me for a little one.

Rubybluesy · 01/02/2021 01:03

Not keen on either

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 01/02/2021 01:08

Very pretty names , I really like Rae , because I love the cool name Ray for a boy , like Ray Charles .Sophie Ellis Bexter has a son named Ray . Wren is beautiful, love your family connection too . Go with your heart when you see your newborn baby girl , best of luck ☘️

ForeverAutumn85 · 01/02/2021 12:08

Personal opinion but not struck on Rae. Wren is adorable
