Forgot Hugo, my only concern with this is I'm not sure it flows with our one syllable surname that begins with a G (pretent the surname is graves for example)
Dh also quite likes hugh and Ralph but I'm really not sure about these, any thoughts?

I like Hugo but there are rather a lot of them around. Ralph is lovely.

emmathedilemma · 28/01/2021 11:35

I like all the ones are your list apart from Hugo! Arthur and Reuben seem to be on an upward trend at the moment.
I really don't like Hugh and Ralph, they're very abrupt names.
Based on your others, what about:
William
Samuel
Benjamin
Albert
Daniel
Alexander
Matthew
Oliver
Joseph / Joe
Charlie

HappyFlamingo · 28/01/2021 11:36

Of your list, my favourite is Edward. Lovely name.

KirstenBlest · 28/01/2021 11:44

George - fine
Arthur - ok but I wouldn't choose it
Edward - lots of Teddy's around, but otherwise fine.
Reuben - sounds wet and drippy
Wilfred - fine

Whatsyourflava · 28/01/2021 11:53

Reuben and Ralph have more of a 2021 trendy vibe, whereas your other names are gorgeous and classic

I like Wilfred Hugh Edward George and Arthur best

partyatthepalace · 28/01/2021 13:45

In vague order of preference -
Arthur - love it and think it will stick around as a modern classic
Edward - it’s a classic. Nice and varied short forms
Reuben - it’s very now but it’s a great name, and it’s always been around

Still nice but slightly less keen on George, and deffo less keen on Wilfred. I think they both sound more little boyish to me - as Wilfred will inevitably be Wilf or Freddie

Other thoughts - Rory, Daniel, John, Robert, Walter

partyatthepalace · 28/01/2021 13:46

Really like Hugh
Don’t mind Hugo (but it’s very now)

Bloody hate Ralph, it is just so wet and sounds like a small dog barking (sorry!) - Rafe is alright though.

1.Hugh - classy, traditional and underused now
8.Ralph - reminds me of the slang for vomiting and feels a bit geeky imo
5.Hugo - fine as a nn for Hugh otherwise it's a bit too trendy/posh
6.George - classic but too pudding like for me (Georgy- Porgy)
4.Arthur - quite trendy now, but a nice name with a cool history
2.Edward - lovely classic, will never go out of fashion, lots of nn choice
7.Reuben - don't like the sound of this for some reason
3.Wilfred - retro/vintage cool and l love the fun nn Wolfie

DramaAlpaca · 29/01/2021 03:20

Edward is my favourite from your list, just so versatile.

I don't like Hugo but I think Hugh would be a great choice - a short, simple underused classic.

Ithinkhedidit · 29/01/2021 03:38

I love George and Edward - two of my favourites. I like Arthur and Wilfred too. Not a fan of Reuben or Thomas .

mamablondie33 · 29/01/2021 08:40

Arthur and Wilfred are lovely!
