First names to go with Madison and Clementine

So DH and I have decided to use Madison and Clementine as middle names for future DD. These are both our individual favourite names but the other one is not so keen so wanted to have them as middle names so we both have the name we love in our DD’s name.

First name is slightly more tricky. Our shortlist at the minute is

Francesca
Ashleigh
Keira
Megan
Rosie
Lara

Please let me know your opinions on these names and which one you think goes best. If you have any other name suggestions as well that would be great.

Isn't Ashleigh Madison an American website for people looking to cheat on their partners? If it is I'd probably look to avoid that combo... Clementine and Madison are very different names with completely different feels to them. To be honest no one will be using both first and middle names so as long as they don't rhyme I'd say any go together.

@thecognoscenti oh god I hadn’t even made that connection, thank you.

Well spotted PP!

Tbh OP those two are a mega mouthful together, could you perhaps save Madison for DC2 as would be ok for a boy or girl??

Otherwise keep it short and light - Rose or Lara from your list - or Clara, Lucy, Lois, Erin, Orla, Anna. Robin, Caitlin.... just keep it light

Francesca is just going to add to the mouthful, Ashleigh is downmarket, Megan and Keira also a bit heavy.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 24/01/2021 18:46

Lara is gorgeous and easily my favourite. Francesca, Keira and Megan are nice enough. Rosie is too cutesy for me for an adult (although fine as a nn for the lovely Rose) and I find Ashleigh too dated/downmarket.

Like a pp said, because Madison and Clementine are quite long (and Megan doesn't work as well with them because of the repeated "N" sounds), I'd stick with short, 2 syllable Lara or Keira for the first name.

fruitbrewhaha · 24/01/2021 18:53

Can you not find a first and second name you both like?

Madison sounds a bit downmarket or American to me, Clementine is quite posh and together they are a mouthful, it's too long, add a first name on and it's even longer.

Clementine Rose is nice.

ILoveStickers · 24/01/2021 19:29

With the long middle names, I'd go for Lara. Or how about Cara?

CaffiSaliMali · 24/01/2021 20:11

I agree with others that you need a short first name with two long middle names. Especially if you have a longer surname.
Lara is lovely. Megan is nice esp. with Meg as a nickname.

Rose/Rosa (I think they are nicer BC versions of Rosie)
Tess
Amy
Erin
Lyla/Lyra
Anna
Anya
Sara/Sarah
Cora
Clara
Cara
Kate/Katy
Emma
Zara
Zoe

Keira and Ashleigh have a very late 80s feel. Francesca is lovely but a bit much with both Clementine and Madison.

Farrah Madison

Lara Clementine Madison

I like all the names on your list except Ashleigh, and wouldn't use it for reason given above even if I did like it.

I like 2 middle names but Madison Clementine is a bit much.
My favourites, to play around with your names a little, would be
Keira Clementine
Rosie Clementine
Francesca Rosie
Megan Clementine

Zofloratheexplora · 25/01/2021 08:59

I'd choose Lara or Keira as it will be a long name. Keira Clementine Madison flows quite nicely. My brother's name is along the lines of Alexander Jonathan Richard Smith and he found it really difficult as a child to remember and spell his full name, his daughter doesnt have a middle name as a result.

peanutbuthead · 25/01/2021 13:36

Hold your ground OP. Keep pushing for your choice and he can have his as middle name

Husband will agree to your choice of name when the baby arrives Guarantee it

Chadcharming · 25/01/2021 14:08

Thanks everyone for your replies, @peanutbuthead tbh I know if I really pushed DH would use my name but I wouldn’t really feel comfortable in doing this knowing that DH wasn’t keen, I know I wouldn’t like it the other way round, not with these names but in general we do have similar tastes in names so I’d rather find a name that we both loved. But thank you for replying 😊
