Baby boy name-sound ok?

So the only name my Husband and I both seem to like for a first name is Jesse. It would mean a lot to me if we could have the baby’s middle name as Walter (this is what my late sister would have called her little boy if she’d had one).
However, Jesse Walter - these are the 2 main characters from Breaking Bad Netflix series- what are peoples views please?

Part of me is saying just go for it but I don’t want our little boy to be a laughing stock!

Thank you!

I didn't think of Breaking Bad when I read them. Go for them if you want them, Breaking Bad isn't going to be well known by his peers as he grows up!

Happymum12345 · 24/01/2021 09:59

I’ve never seen breaking bad, but absolutely love both of those names.

partyatthepalace · 24/01/2021 10:23

They are lovely names and a brilliant combo. Great to use the name your sister would have done.

Your sons peer group won’t know BB.. I love BB but I wouldn’t have really thought your name choice had anything to do with it, they are just nice names.

Twisique · 24/01/2021 10:38

I would have had no idea. If you are worried you could have James Walter Surname with Jesse as nn and name used in school.

Flymetothestars · 24/01/2021 11:47

Both lovely names- great !
I've seen breaking bad many years ago
Wouldn't make the connection but I don't really see a problem if someone momentarily made the connection, what's the problem anyway?
99.999% of the time only the first name will be used anyway and if someone random person says "you like breaking bad" you can just reply and say they're just two names you like. I doubt anyone will be that interested or give it a second thought to be honest. I don't know what the majority of my best friends middle names even are, let alone would I spend time thinking about if there's a connection between first and middle name

Wingingitsince2018 · 24/01/2021 12:00

Fine provided that your surname isn't White!

ParisJeTAime · 24/01/2021 12:14

It's totally fine imo! Nobody will remember Breaking Bad all that well by the time he starts school. Certainly not any of his peers. Go for it!

Sorry to hear you lost your sister. That must be very difficult Flowers

Heyha · 24/01/2021 12:20

I must admit I did think Breaking Bad but I won't be at school with your DS 🤣 as others have said highly unlikely anyone will realise in his leer group and older people might notice but should know better than to say anything.

If you're still bothered about it maybe do Jesse (another name) Walter (surname)? I think it's lovely that you want to use it.

Standrewsschool · 24/01/2021 12:21

I wouldn’t connect it at all.

elfran · 24/01/2021 12:24

I LOVE both those names and wouldn't worry about the BB connection (although to be fair I haven't seen it- tried to get into it and found it too stressful! 😍). I think they sound great together.

WhenTwoBecomeThree · 24/01/2021 12:25

I wouldn't of connected the two until you mentioned the connection. I doubt your little boy's generation will know about Breaking Bad anyway by the time they get to school!

crabette · 24/01/2021 12:47

I wouldn't have thought Breaking Bad at all - I think they're lovely names, and work really well together!

The only thing I did think of was the author Jess Walter; his novel 'Beautiful Ruins' is one of my fave books.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 24/01/2021 19:41

While neither name are my cup of tea especially, like pp posters I think they are fine together - the Breaking Bad link isn't obvious to me at all.

Firebird83 · 24/01/2021 21:02

I think it’s fine. It’s a very handsome combination.

bourbonne · 25/01/2021 13:02

@Twisique

I would have had no idea. If you are worried you could have James Walter Surname with Jesse as nn and name used in school.
But then people will think there's some weird Jesse James tribute going on. Why else would Jesse be linked to James? It's an Old Testament name unrelated to James.
