I really like Olive and Aurora. Perhaps Adeline/Adaline or Madeleine?

Puddlelane123 · 23/01/2021 18:43

Aurelia Hazel

partyatthepalace · 23/01/2021 18:51

Of your list I love Aurelia, like Athena, quite like Aurora - but don’t think any of them go that well with Hazel - maybe they are too frilly and Hazel too solid... Hazel is quite tricky to match isn’t it? Not keen on the rest of your list. Thoughts below, including a few mythological ones...

Circe Hazel
Persephone Hazel
Felicity Hazel
Evangeline Hazel
Frances Hazel
Lois Hazel
Penelope Hazel
Erin Hazel
Phoebe Hazel
Esther Hazel
Thora Hazel

ParisJeTAime · 23/01/2021 18:53

I like Olive and Zelda. Dislike Aurelia, which I find a bit stuffy.

How about:

Winter
Juno
Luna
Wren
Leonie
Martha
Faye

Or Hazel as a first name? I love it!

PaigeMatthews · 23/01/2021 18:56

Love zelda and zora

DotDotDotDotDot · 23/01/2021 19:15

Athena and Petra are my favourites from your list. Both seem like strong, sophisticated names. Olive would be my least favourite and wouldn’t work with Hazel. I quite like Aurora too but it seems like I’ve been hearing this name so often recently, so may be getting popular.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 23/01/2021 19:29

Aurelia, Athena and Petra are all beautiful. It's hard to pick a fave, but I've always loved Aurelia- I find it quite elegant.

Zelda and Zora are okay - a bit quirky sounding but nice enough.

Aurora is too popular/Disney princess for me now (which is a shame as it's a lovely name).

The only one I really dislike is Olive - sounds too dated for me (and it also doesn't really work with Hazel since they are both colours).

Love Petra followed by Athena, I think both go nicely with Hazel which is a lovely name too!

Fishingforhappiness · 23/01/2021 20:01

Thank you all. @babynamelover i also like Zola. I have always like Iris but a close friend has just had an Iris and in hindsight with Hazel may be too "woodland". I am glad i asked, never thought about olive and hazel together. So thats out. Zelda is the name of the first house we bought together. Is that odd? I think Athena/Zelda/ Zola may now be my top 3. My husband is still shocked we are having a baby and a bit dumbfounded by names.

Love Olive

How about

Greta
Cleo

Chunkymenrock · 23/01/2021 20:04

Not roar roar roar, it's awful! Athena and Petra are nice. Xanthe?

IndiaMay · 23/01/2021 20:11

Love Zelda it's on my list. Also love Hazel which is a middle name on my list after a grandparent!

Some other choices:

Willa
Mallory
Ira
Avalon
Alba
Blythe
Verity
Lydia
Jemima
Tessa

IndiaMay · 23/01/2021 20:12

Ira is pronounced Eye-ra so similar to Iris

Fishingforhappiness · 23/01/2021 20:19

I do like Xanthe and Ira. My goddaughter is Alba and Tessa is my SIL. I like verity an Martha but my husband doesn't. Its a hard one choosing one name!

OP I don't think using the name of the first home you bought together is odd - actually I'd say it's a bit romantic and a nice story to tell your child.

I quite like Zelda Hazel - "el" sounds are very popular now so although the names themselves aren't common she'd fit in with her peers. Zelda also has the benefit of very different references - scifi/fantasy cool (Legend of Zelda games, Witch Aunt on Sabrina) and classy vintage/retro (Zelda Fitzgerald) .

Firebird83 · 23/01/2021 21:03

Zelda Hazel!

ParisJeTAime · 23/01/2021 21:06

I think of your three favourites, I would go with Zelda. It's a cool name, but not so out there that she'd be embarrassed introducing herself.

Athena makes me think of the Greek myth, (not keen on her birth story), and also the poster shop. It isn't terrible, but I don't really get the appeal. To me, it's unusual without being interesting which seems like the worst of both worlds. (Loads of people on here seem to really like it though, so obviously this is just one opinion - mine Smile).

Zola makes me think of Gianfranco and I'm not even a football fan! Again, I might be weird though, as it seems to be fairly well liked on here.

Cleverpolly3 · 23/01/2021 21:07

Tabitha Hazel is lovely

BellaVida · 23/01/2021 21:20

Aurelia is beautiful!

89redballoons · 23/01/2021 22:15

I just love Zelda and Petra. Lovely strong names!

MercyBodle · 24/01/2021 05:12

Zelda Hazel. Lovely!

SmeleanorSmellstrop · 24/01/2021 06:50

Olive, Athena and Zelda are cool, a bit quirky and hipster like Atticus, they would work well if you evet did have a boy and name him Atticus. Aurelia and Aurora aren't as strong, they're a bit frilly anf Disney princess. The others are okay. Maybe a bit nothing-ey, especially Zora

SandysMam · 24/01/2021 07:01

What about Artemis Hazel? I love that!
Congratulations on your baby girl OP! Oh
