Berkeley = cigarettes.

PistolKnight · 19/01/2021 09:54

Berkeley is rhyming slang for cunt
And shortens to berk

Kanaloa · 19/01/2021 10:03

Brooke is nice for a girl. Berkeley is awful for a boy or girl. For a boy, I like Blake, which you might also like, or maybe Brady.

Kanaloa · 19/01/2021 10:03

Oh or Brodie.

SmeleanorSmellstrop · 19/01/2021 10:18

Brooke seems like a girls name and Berkeley a dogs name. Any others on the list?

bonnieimi · 19/01/2021 10:27

I like Brooke for a girl, not keen if it's a boy.

I really don't like Berkeley for either gender, sorry.

Is the name for a boy or a girl?

Twinkie01 · 19/01/2021 10:35

They're both frightful

RileyG73 · 19/01/2021 10:37

Brooke is fine, I like it!

ProudAuntie76 · 19/01/2021 10:39

Brooke is nice

Berkeley is bloody awful.

Amdone123 · 19/01/2021 10:41

Brooke is dated for a girl. And Berkeley reminds me of a packet of cigarettes.
Agree with a pp. Briony ( spelt this way is lovely), and Benjamin is a great name.
What else do you like ??

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 19/01/2021 10:46

@Scarby9

I agree about avoiding the Berk abbreviation in the UK. It sounds as if you like BK names, not just B names, and surname type names too. So what about: Baker Ryan Barclay Ryan Brinkley Ryan Brenkley Ryan Backley Ryan Bracken Ryan Brackley Ryan Braxton Ryon
A superb list! I sincerely hope I have 8 more children so I can use all of these as call them my Backstreet (another name suggestion for the BK sound?) Boyz!!
BeingATwatItsABingThing · 19/01/2021 10:46

*and call them

SallyTimms · 19/01/2021 10:49

Braxton hicjs

Barclay Bank

Berkeley Square

Op please don't go out of your way to try and think up a different or unusual name, often they miss the mark!

Are you just wanting the initial B?

SallyTimms · 19/01/2021 10:50

Burger King will be the result of BK initials.!

Yoshinori · 19/01/2021 10:52

Oh god

smoothchange · 19/01/2021 10:53

Maybe just call the baby Ryan

lagerandblack · 19/01/2021 10:54

Eeww Berkeley..... as in a packet of cigarettes! Give your head a wobble .

MrsMoastyToasty · 19/01/2021 10:57

Berkeley is the name of a castle just north of Bristol.
It also sounds the same as Barclays, as in Barclays Bank.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 19/01/2021 10:57

I do actually know an adult called Berke, wasnt born in the UK though, and I'm not close enough to him to ask where he got his name from, he's cypriot/USA. He never got any shit from us on his name, but then, we were all young adults and he was a great guy so no-one took the piss.

Its not a great name to use in the uk imo. In the USA Berkeley is also a university in california.

SoupDragon · 19/01/2021 10:59

Yes.

Except it still says "Berk".

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 19/01/2021 11:00

I knew a lovely lad called Brook a few years ago. You definitely need to lose the E on the end though...

LiJo2015 · 19/01/2021 11:17

Neither - sorry. Both sound harsh.

LochJessMonster · 19/01/2021 11:29

I do like Braxton and Brodie though

sleepingfox · 19/01/2021 11:53

I like Brooke for a girl.

I’d assume Berkeley was a boy, and I’d definitely avoid the name if you’re in the UK. Theres the connotation of the Berkeley Hunt, rhyming slang / berk, and the brand of cigarettes.

emmathedilemma · 19/01/2021 12:20

Why don't you use Ryan as a first name?
