A name that fits both baby and man...

We are having trouble with boys names. All the names we like (like Theo for example) we can picture on a baby, but not on a grown man.

We also dislike names that are commonly shortened ie Alexander to Alex, Nicholas to Nick, Archer to Archie etc.

Any suggestions?

Our "kinda" okay list at the moment are - Hunter, Issac, Caleb, Jack, Kian, Leo, Liam, Lincoln, Cole.

Lucas has been taken by a close friend.

Jacob is lovely but will forever remind me of Twlight now (showing my age a bit?!)

Theo is lovely - Theo Walcott - footballer and grown man? I don't see how that is much different to Leo or Caleb to be honest.

From your list, Isaac (spelt this way which is usual or he'll constantly be correcting it), Leo or Jack. I'm sorry but I don't like the others. Have known quite a few naughty Cole's and Kian's so I have negative associations with the names. Lincoln and Hunter sound a bit American?

We don't mind "American" sounding names. A name is a name to us so long as its what LO is called and its not shortened.

I know a grown mam Theo who is cool as fuck but that's not the point. Your names are 'baby' names because you're naming a baby, Jack, Leo, Liam are well established old man to baby names. The rest are more recent but very common names, a baby named now wouldn't have an odd name with any of your choices once they were at school or grown up.

Yes I do understand that. Just there are some names I just can't picture on a adult, it's the same with girls names but not so much. One name DP liked was Zachary but I just couldn't picture it on a baby, and I liked Arlo but he didn't think it "suited" a grown man.

Honestly, you may be overthinking the baby to man thing.
Names just grow with the person really with extremely rare exceptions.
Pick what you both actually like best :)

Problem is we don't have any names we both like best... Just a list of "OK" names, none that really stand out for whatever reason.

You are definitely overthinking it. I know children called Zach (I'm afraid Zachary is 99% likely to get shortened) and Arlo, they'll be men in less than ten years and they will be perfectly normal names amongst their peers. I prefer those names to most of the others mentioned eariler.

Archie and Max are the dogs in the family unfortunately 😂 but we do love the names lol.

Dylan is lovely. I liked Darryl for a long time but DP didn't.

Ah yes. I came up against the 'oh god. That's the cat/dog/hamster's' name thing.

We have considered Grant but again its just not something I see on a baby.. But maybe once the baby is born ill change my mind?

Miles and Milo were on the list for a while until DP said Milo reminded him of the Tweenies and Miles was Buffy the Vampire Slayer character apparently? Lol I told him he watched too much TV!

I have an Isaac, obviously I'm biased but I think it's timeless

I think your list is fine. Names like Teddy, Archie, Alfie, Buddy are all nice on young children but awful for anyone over the age of about 10.
