Baby girl names

Been going round and round in circles with baby girls names. Anyone care to share girls names, every list I find online just seems to have the same names over and over again.
Love unusual but not too out there. Ideally looking for a name that isn't out of place in the classroom but there isn't 5 others in their year.

I'd suggest going to the ONS website and downloading the 2019 girls names table - if you look at the names below no.200 or so, there are some very well known names not currently used much (in a wide variety of styles -think Caroline, Claudia, May, Georgina, Celia, Cecilia, Joanne/Joanna, Antonia, Juliet, Serena, Diana, Faye, Miranda, Helen/Helena, Louise/Louisa, Anne, Jane, Mary, Josephine, Catherine, Ruth, Frances, Margaret...)

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 13/01/2021 12:22

Or if you want them to "fit in" but be less likely to have the same name as another child in their class- look for soundalike names outside the Top 100. So instead of Lara, Clara, Zara or Sara (top 100 names) go for Cara, Tara or Mara, instead of popular Felicity use Verity, instead of Freya use Freda, instead of Evelyn use Vivien etc - you get the point.

Bettieboogie · 13/01/2021 12:43

@IamnotwhouthinkIam I have been on the ons site. I used it before when I named my older daughter to check how popular her name was. (she's called Faye)
Its been 9 years since my last but it just feels like there was more choice then. Baby brain is blocking my ability to think and lists, even the ons lists seem so repetitive 🙈
Im probably stressing for nothing but I cant seem to find any that jump out at me. Only 6 weeks to go too!

I found googling lists of names from other countries helped me find names I liked!

Leo674 · 13/01/2021 13:16

Very well family and what to expect had lists of 1000 names, could start from the bottom and work up! Or look for top names from pre 2010 that are less likely to be used today.
Names I've considered that aren't too common, at least from what I've seen are:
Maeve
Bridget
Erica
Jessica (common for girls born 25/30 years ago but not so much now)
Thora/Tora
Seraphina
Serena
Cecilia/Cecily
Morgan
Elsie

Or you could go for a more traditional name and use a lesser known nickname, Victoria-Tori, Charlotte-Lottie, Florence- Flossie/Florrie, Gabrielle-Bree

I also found it helpful searching for names that mean strength/grace/fire etc and found quite a few that I hadn't considered.

@Bettieboogie - Faye is lovely. If I was you I'd concentrate on 1 or 2 syllable (maybe 3 at a push, if the name is still short) girls names outside the top 100 that might fit with Faye's style - like Stella, Maeve, Nell, Tess, Cora, Willa, etc.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 13/01/2021 14:22

Faye is one of those names we probably all know one or at least know of one but according to my research I don’t think it’s ever been in the top 100, it’s strange isn’t it

JeanMilburn · 14/01/2021 07:52
