Stumbled across this name it means bear 🐻

I think it's the one but my OH is undecided. What do you think? 💙

It doesn't actually mean 'bear', it's from a later nickname based on the Latin for bear which is 'ors'. IMHO not a very nice sound.
Orson Wells was undoubtedly very very talented. His first name was George. He had a horrible, tragic childhood. His later life was very conflicted and also rather sad. None of us can judge, and I genuinely hope that he has found peace, but I'd not be particularly keen to name anyone after him.

So extremely connected to Orson Welles and underused that I would assume it was a knowing reference.
That’s no bad thing of itself. However I would expect a lifetime (your and his) of answering questions about his name and whether it was a tribute of some sort and then about films. Could become really tiresome ??
Not sure what I think if it as a name because I struggle to ‘see it’ properly as just this ‘rosebud’

I absolutely loved mork and mindy, made my 10 and 11 year old girls watch it recently, they loved it too 😍 when I hear orson I immediately think welles and Robin Williams but its not a name I have strong feelings on either way

We camped next to a family with an Orson in the summer and my kids thought he was called Orphan 😆. That’s my rather unhelpful contribution

I like it but there's another association no one has mentioned yet - sci-fi writer Orson Scott Card. On the one hand, he's written some really memorable interesting stuff eg Ender's Game, on the other hand now known mostly for his very homophobic views. It's a relatively common Mormon name, I think? Card is Mormon.
