If we like these girls names

So we are certain for a girl it would be Eileen or Jean. We don't care about the song. Little kids won't know it. Not bothered at all!!
But we cannot agree on any boys names. We both like Raymond and Morris but not enough I don't think.
If we like Eileen and Jean what boys names might we like?

Jean is my favourite ever girls' name, but I have a feeling it's going to explode in popularity within the next 5/10 years.

Boys names you may like.. Gilbert, Malcolm, Ivan, Leonard, Hector, Edgar, Cedric, Yannick, Nestor, Lars, Magnus, Idris, Madoc, Cato.

I love Morris, such a wonderful name.

If that doesn't persuade you how about Ernest, Graham, Andrew, Harrold or Malcolm.

ClaraBean · 03/01/2021 14:58

@Seap - oh really? What makes you think that? I would like to avoid anything massively on trend/anything that will date if possible. I love Gilbert, Cedric, Malcolm and Magnus. All been vetoed by dp, but might be able to win him over on Gil/Gilbert.
@Disfordarkchocolate - ooh love Harold. Will pop that in the list!
@Fivemoreminutes1 - love Bernard, dp not convinced!
@ProudAuntie76 - Desmond is one of my favourite names. Do says no.
I think the trouble he can't help but think of anybody we know, or any cultural references for all names. It is very very limiting!!!
Thanks for the suggestion. Any more welcome!!

Absolutely no evidence to suggest the name Jean is about to explode

If anything it's still declining in popularity

@partyatthepalace @Seap

Here's the graph based on official ons statistics, the name is not even picking up speed so nothing currently to suggest it's even getting slightly more popular let alone about to boom

Seap · 03/01/2021 21:11

I've heard lots of people mention it recently and it is just destined to be popular. One syllable, four letters, very appealing. I know someone who used it because they love the Bowie song. She is nicknamed Jeanie.
I love it and would definitely still use it.

@FluffyEggsontoast

It’s a hunch, but I can see it getting popular with my hip young parent colleagues, whose predecessors in the last 25 years led the charge with Arthur, Alfred etc etc when everyone thought they were old man names.

So I’m not saying it’s scientific, but I’ll bet you £100 it’ll be rising in the next couple years Grin

MooseBreath · 03/01/2021 23:25

I much prefer Eileen to Jean!

The only Eileen I know was married to Reginald (we all called him Reg).

DH's grandmother is called Jean, and she is married to Barrie.
