I like traditional and classic names and these are two of my favourites.
Grace or Alice - which should I chose?

Alice.

Alice

Alice, but I have an Alice so I’m biased

@CeeceeBloomingdale

Grace is beautiful. I think of the song who the f* is Alice with that name
This has been a problem for about 15 mins in total of being called Alice for over 40 years.
BigusBumus · 01/01/2021 16:55

Grace is a name I really don't like. The actual word Grace is a hard clunky sound and is quite ugly. I also associate it with the type of people who call their child Gracie-Mae. 😖

Grace
I hate Alice and the song that goes with it.

Grace
I too think of the same song as Ceecee

Firebird83 · 01/01/2021 19:48

Alice. Grace is overused.

F0M0 · 01/01/2021 19:55

Grace! The name Alice is too ..... I don't know, I just don't like it.

1starwars2 · 01/01/2021 19:55

Alice.
I don't have daughters, but I think it's a lovely name.
Grace not so much. Also I think there's a problem with names that are characteristics. What if Grace isn't at all graceful, Joy feels miserable, Patience is impatient etc?

IsabellaMozzarella · 01/01/2021 20:05

Alice

Sandcastles09 · 01/01/2021 20:06

Alice! But I love Grace too!

tuttifuckinfruity · 01/01/2021 20:14

Another one here who really dislikes Alice. Can't quite put my finger on it. It's a bit wet and weak sounding.

Also, I don't get why some people rave about it, all "ooh it's so timeless and beautiful" yet nobody seems to be like Alison? More or less the same name IMO.

Unfortunately I don't like Grace either. Agree with pp's that say it's not a very attractive sound and quite clunky. Also agree with the Gracie-Mae comment.

Alice by far.

Grace has that hard 'gr' sound that I really don't like.

Grace

I like both but of the two I'd pick Alice. As well as being less popular currently (both as a first name and as a middle name, Grace is very well used at the moment), Alice is more classic - in fact I would call it the ultimate English traditional girls name (it's been very popular since the 13th century, only Elizabeth has been more consistant as Alice fell out of the top 100 in the 1950's -70's).

Alice also has a greater variety of images and namesakes (various princesses, authors and actresses etc as well as the Lewis Carroll character), whereas for Grace I think many people still picture Grace Kelly.

Alice

Virtue names are hard to pull off.
