So we are discussing name for a girl and are stuck between a few. DS1 is Oliver and our surname is a two-syllable -son name.

Second name will be Christine no matter what, but it's the first one we're struggling with.

Isabelle
Amelie
Emilia

What are your opinions?

My favourite is Isabelle, goes nicely with Oliver.

IckleBear · 31/12/2020 15:05

I like Emilia!

SmeleanorSmellstrop · 31/12/2020 15:27

Isabelle 🥰

Isabelle

Poppyolive90 · 31/12/2020 17:52

Isabelle is my favourite of the list

Undervaluedandsad · 31/12/2020 17:53

All lovely

Amelie

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 31/12/2020 20:05

Emilia works well I think with Oliver and with Christine as a middle name, although you may get the Emilia/Amelia confusion.

Isabel would have been my first choice with Oliver but I don't like the frilly Isabelle spelling (unless you are from a French speaking country).

DramaAlpaca · 31/12/2020 20:11

I like Emilia the best, it's just lovely.

I prefer Isabel to Isabelle, it's less fussy.

Hearing Amelie in anything other than a French accent gives me the horrors I'm afraid.

Firebird83 · 01/01/2021 00:49

Isabelle Christine

partyatthepalace · 01/01/2021 01:38

I think Isabel and Oliver is lovely, but spelt standard English way, think Isabelle unnecessarily flouncy, unless you are actually French

Also like Emilia, or Amelia for that matter.

Amelie I think just sounds weird in English. How bout Emily?

MercyBodle · 01/01/2021 07:57

All nice but my favourite is Isabelle (though I think Isabel spelling is much better).

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 01/01/2021 07:58

All fine, prefer Isabelle.

20viona · 01/01/2021 08:00

Not on your list but I prefer Amelie

mondray · 01/01/2021 10:49

Thank you for the answers everyone. I'm actually Swedish myself and all these spellings/names are Swedish versions of the names (even though they are french too). So it wouldn't be weird for us to personally use them.

But it seems the majority think Isabelle for first choice and Emilia for second choice. Which is where I'm at as well.

My husband likes all of them, but can't quite get behind Isabelle as a favourite, but thinks he favours Emilia.

Anyone we've got a long way to go yet and not find out gender until birth. So will just have to wait and see in July Smile.

Thank you so much for your help.
