What do you think of either of the following?

Ophelia Grace or
Grace Ophelia

Any other suggestions welcome. I quite like traditional timeless names.

Thanks x

I like Grace Ophelia best. I think Grace is a bit over used as an unimaginative middle name (like May) but it's really nice and doesn't seem to be that commonly used now as a first name.

Spied · 30/12/2020 13:39

Ophelia Grace flows better but I'd much rather Grace as my first name.

abigailsnan · 30/12/2020 13:39

Personally I also prefer Grace Ophelia but please be careful if your surname begins with B it could be embarressing later on in life for her.

Ophelia Grace is beautiful

macdhui · 30/12/2020 16:55

Ophelia Grace is fab

While Grace is a bit overused as a middle name (along with Rose and May), I have to say Ophelia Grace does sound lovely.

Ophelia is beautiful - very elegant and romantic sounding and thanks to it's increase in popularity, is much more useable than it was 20 years ago (when everyone would have automatically thought of Hamlet).

2 warnings though - Grace is much more classic, so if that's your major concern then use that as a first name instead. Secondly I'm assuming your name doesn't sound like an object or something rude because there is the "I feel ya" thing.

Other fairly timeless/classic names - Elizabeth, Catherine, Rose, Isabel, Maria, Sarah, Laura, Julia, Anna, Emma.

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 30/12/2020 17:48

your surname , not your name!

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 30/12/2020 17:53

I love Ophelia Grace as a combination. Grace Ophelia doesn’t flow quite so well I think.
Other timeless classics for me would include
Marianne
Georgina
Violet
Charlotte
Octavia
Elizabeth
Catherine
Constance
Isabella
Helena
Eleanor

I like Grace a lot, but I can’t see any appeal in Ophelia. Its associations are entirely negative.

This.

Grace Ophelia

DramaAlpaca · 30/12/2020 18:37

Ophelia is pretty but I can't get past its tragic literary associations. I'm not particularly fond of Grace, I don't like the 'gr' sound much, but I'd much prefer to be called Grace than Ophelia.

jellybe · 30/12/2020 18:38

Love Ophelia Grace. Beautiful names and it flows beat this way round - plus not many Ophelias out there.

WinniePig · 30/12/2020 19:02

Aurelia
Evangeline
Seraphina
Florence
Theodora
Valentina
Anastasia
Rosamund / Rosalind

I’d put all those names in the “Ophelia” bracket. They’re a bit too long and try hard for my liking (except Florence which is lovely).

WinniePig · 30/12/2020 19:02

Ottilia - that’s another one!

PoodleMoth · 31/12/2020 10:17

Ophelia Grace

Ophelia Grace sounds classy.

whatausername · 01/01/2021 15:15

Ophelia Grace sounds better Grace Ophelia but if your surname is something like Hunt or Cox then I'd avoid. I imagine you've thought of that already given all the usual Ophelia jokes that are around but sometimes people miss the obvious!

partyatthepalace · 01/01/2021 17:57

Both lovely names - as a combo I think Grace Ophelia is more unusual and interesting sounding that Ophelia Grace - but both nice - it comes down to want you want as a first name (though you could always use second name as first if you really like a particular order).

I’d be a little bit put off by the strong tragic connotations of Ophelia.

Cordelia is a spunkier Shakespearean heroine... Seraphina, Theodora. Aurelia, Dorothea other names with a similar feel.

For single syllable names, I think Jane will be making a comeback soon.
