Looking for a Goddess-related Hindu name, what do you think of Shreya and Radhika? Pros and cons?
Radhika is pronounced Raa-dhi-ka and Shreya, like Freya.

I like both. I know a male Shrey - nobody has problems pronouncing his name.

At first glance I might think Radhika is pronounced Radeeka, with the emphasis on the second syllable, but people unfamiliar with the name would pick up the proper pronunciation quickly enough once you told them.

No child is going to call them Shrek or Radish. I entirely disagree with that PP Confused

I love them both.

I like Radhika most. It’s not a name I’ve come across (worked in inner city primary with a large Asian community) either. Mind you I’ve not come across a Shreya either now I think about it.

Shreya is lovely. Easy to say and spell. I know one and she is lovely.

I like Jyoti but imagine westerners may struggle with it. Parvati and Lakshmi are nice.

I prefer Shreya to Radhika.

Shriya?

Radikha reminds me of radishes. I don't know why.

CrazylazyJane · 13/01/2021 20:08

I'm going against the grain but I love Radikha. I taught a lovely little girl called Radikha. I have taught several Shreyas. Nice enough but fairly common girls name jere in West London.

Think I prefer Shreya as always thought Radhika was a bit clunky. I teach the most delightful child called Diya, have you considered that as a name?

I love Radhika. Taught a fab one a few years back, she was head girl too. One of those pupils who sticks in your memory for all the right reasons!
