Some of our top faves right now! Dominique (nn Minnie, Nica) Darcy, Dahlia (nn Dali). Thoughts?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Diverseduvet · 05/12/2020 04:49

Have you considered Dora? Or maybe Deborah with Dora as a nickname?

Diverseduvet · 05/12/2020 04:52

Hi Firefly, how are you getting on with you list of girls names beginning with D?

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 05/12/2020 05:10

Dahlia is lovely, more unusual than some of the other flower names but very pretty.

Jessbow · 05/12/2020 06:43

Dahlia will spend her life correcting the pronounciation of her name,

Day-lee-Uh ....or Dar-lee-uh?

THATbasicSNOWFLAKE · 05/12/2020 07:03

Darcy is my fave out of those

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 05/12/2020 07:27

Oh i just commented on your other thread to say I really like Dominique and Darcie/Darcy. I’m glad to see they’re front runners. Dahlia is nice too.

My favourite is probably Dominique.

Nell96 · 05/12/2020 07:45

Not that keen on any of them really - Darcy would be my pick.

Sausagedog1 · 05/12/2020 07:48

Darcy is nice

ClassyRodent · 05/12/2020 07:49

I know a Darcia, I think that would be a lovely amalgamation of your names.

I like your 3 choices and think you could go with whatever feels right when you see her little face.

mathanxiety · 05/12/2020 07:51

All awful.

Oneandabean · 05/12/2020 07:53

I love dahlia pronounced dah-lia but not pronounced day-lia. We ended taking it off our list as it would get pronounced wrong a lot

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 05/12/2020 11:37

Darcy. Also Darcia is a good suggestion

MikeUniformMike · 05/12/2020 11:52

Dominique (nn Minnie, Nica) - a bit try hard
Darcy - I don't like it, Darce as nn
Dahlia (nn Dali) - some will say Day-lia.

It seems you are focussing on the nn. They tend to be organic.

SlightDrizzle · 05/12/2020 11:55

How many recent threads have you started on D names? You sound like a minor-grade maniac.

Plus I can’t decide whether you or your husband has worse taste in D names. Dahlia just sounds like municipal flower beds.

fairydustandpixies · 05/12/2020 11:58

Dominique 100%.

MikeUniformMike · 05/12/2020 12:01

@firefly374, just pick a name you love and change the first letter to D.

You could have Dava, Dryony, Dharlotte, Develyn, Diona, Denevieve, Delena, Disabella...

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 05/12/2020 12:08

Doco

Douise

Darlotta/Darlotte

This is fun!!

SlightDrizzle · 05/12/2020 12:09

Grin

I vote for Dimogen.

HollyandIvyandallthingsYule · 05/12/2020 12:10

Yeah the fixation on diminutives/nicknames is a bit misplaced, I feel. People will likely call her anything but the one you want, especially if you use a made up one.

daisypond · 05/12/2020 12:13

Anything but Darcy. I like Dahlia best. Dominique is very Catholic nun to me.

MikeUniformMike · 05/12/2020 12:13

Dolivia gives the nn Dolly or Livia or Liv, or possibly Div.

MikeUniformMike · 05/12/2020 12:15

Doë mght get misspelt as Doughy

SlightDrizzle · 05/12/2020 12:19

Dominique to me is a bit character with hairspray and shoulderpads in an eighties soap — probably an illegitimate daughter of Alexis Colby-Carrington who shows up with a revolver and a lipsticked sneer.
MikeUniformMike · 05/12/2020 12:22

Domenica is nicer than Dominique, which is a bit too 'Bond girl' and Dynasty villain.

ThePinkGuitar · 05/12/2020 12:23

Sorry op I don’t like any of them either :(

Dominique too much - bit chardonnay/Mercedes vibes sorry!
Darcy - Nah I don’t like this at all very popular too
Dahlia - the black Dahlia negative connotations
