I love the name Emily for future DD but my name is Emma and I don’t know if it matters that they are similar. Is this only an issue with siblings?

Oh that is so silly, sorry, an Emma and an Emily? I'd near rather Emma junior. A name so similar is just a confusign tongue twister

It's fine.

I am one of those names and considered doing the same after a relative. I think it's totally fine. They are NOT the same name. They just aren't! They have completely different origins to boot.

I agree - it's totally fine. It wouldn't even cross my mind if I met a mum Emma with a daughter Emily. They're not the same at all.

I think it's fine for mother and daughter. Too close for sisters though.

My family recycles a lot of names and variations between generations e.g. Mary and Maria or Alexandra and Alexia.
