So I thought that we had a name picked out for our son to be, but my stepson has said that he hates the name we chose, so we are now exploring a few others.

Which is your favourite of these 3 contenders?

  • Arthur
  • Kasper
  • Finley

Or any suggestions similar to these would be very very welcome!! 😁

All nice, Finley is my fave!

Honestly though I think I'd ignore the stepson, he will have to get used to it whatever you choose!

Spied · 21/11/2020 14:20

Finley of the 3.

ThePinkGuitar · 21/11/2020 14:21

I think I’d ignore the stepson too op how old is he?
My dd hated the name we picked for ds but as she was little we ignored her 😂 she used to cry ‘it’s not even a proper name’ it’s a classic traditional name think william, James vibe

ShrimpSymphony · 21/11/2020 14:23

Finley

TotalBitch · 21/11/2020 14:27
  1. Arthur
  2. Kasper
  3. Finley

All fine though. No absolute stinkers. Finley sounds slightly whiney to me for some reason... but it is far from terrible.

Boringnamechanging · 21/11/2020 14:31

Arthur

Viviennemary · 21/11/2020 14:39

No keen on Kasper but it's not awful. Others are ok.

Viviennemary · 21/11/2020 14:40

What was the original name you chose

SnowdropFox · 21/11/2020 15:40

Arthur, what was vetoed?

Aquamarine1029 · 21/11/2020 15:43

It is crazy to allow your stepson to control what you name your child.

ScotchBunnet · 21/11/2020 15:48

Finley is my fave (but personally I prefer the spelling finlay!)

FixItUpChappie · 21/11/2020 16:03

Kasper - love that name!

SugarCoatIt · 21/11/2020 16:05

Kasper

FelicityPike · 21/11/2020 16:06

I prefer Casper....but none are horrid.

FluffyEggsontoast · 21/11/2020 16:08

Love all 3

FippertyGibbett · 21/11/2020 16:09

It’s none of your step son’s business. Don’t discuss it with him anymore, just tell him the name when it’s born.
I like Arthur, i hear Finley a lot and I’m not keen on Kasper.

SaffieSoph · 21/11/2020 16:10

Arthur is my fave. Don’t like Finley.

IckleBear · 21/11/2020 16:36

Elijah
Zachary
Harvey

TheDetectiveBadge · 21/11/2020 16:47

Arthur!

DramaAlpaca · 21/11/2020 16:49

The names are all fine.

Take no notice of your stepson. What you name your child is none of his business whatever age he is.

missyB1 · 21/11/2020 16:53

Probably Arthur from your list, but be aware it’s very popular. More suggestions;
Jonah
Barnaby (Barney)
Jamie
Scott
Elliott

Mudcakemaniac · 21/11/2020 18:09

Kasper.

When I saw the title, I got a feeling you'd like Kasper and then saw it was on your list! It's a sign ;)

funtimestobehad · 21/11/2020 18:58

We actually had Kasper to begin with but when we told my stepson (he is staying with us now until after the baby is born and he is 21), his reaction was to laugh. He was quite rude about it to be honest, so it made me super self conscious about our choice.

My husband is now super unsure of the name because of his son's reaction as apparently he wasn't set on that name anyway.

I will talk to him again as I feel that Kasper is what my son's name should be, he feels like a Kasper to me already. I also know that it has to be a decision from us both so we will have to make the final choice together...

I wish we hadn't told anyone, I just wasn't expecting that response...

He's 21 , he has no idea of current trends. He'd probably be shocked at top 100 names like Hunter, Albert, Arlo and Albie. I bet he'd laugh at loads of the names that are popular now because he's not used to them.

Don't worry.

Kasper is a lovely name and I honestly wouldn't raise an eyebrow about it at all these days. Stick with it. Your other options are lovely too but Kasper is more interesting

BackforGood · 21/11/2020 20:46

Are you East European ?
I'm just wondering about Kasper, rather than Casper ?

I mean I'm not keen on it, but no real reason (other than the friendly ghost), but if you were going to use it, I'd spell it Casper unless you are from a heritage that usually spells it Kasper.

I (personally) find Arthur old fashioned, BUT, 'old fashioned names' have come round again and it fits with the Stanleys and Elsies and Ivys that are being named at the moment.

My personal preference of the three is Finley.
