Docie?

It's a Greek girl's name. I believe it's pronounced like "doh-see". I'm leaning towards this name a bit more than the others on our list, so wanted to know everyone's opinion on it. The middle name will be Catherine.

Other names in our list are:

Mallory
Madeleine
Rowan
Quinn

I think "Docie" potentially comes from Eudocia, that's the only nomial link I can think of. Out of the names you've picked, Mallory is my favourite.

MrsSiriusBlack1 · 17/11/2020 14:48

Poor child.

Madeleine is nice, not keen on Quinn but it would still be infinitely preferable to Docie.

Kanaloa · 17/11/2020 15:07

Not keen on Docie, reminds me of dossy/dosser. I think Quinn is too much like quim. Mallory, Rowan and Madeleine are nice, I like Madeleine the best.

Quinn and Rowan are definitely the best names on your list....however Quinn Catherine 🤔 sounds like Queen Catherine 😬 I feel like your names and the middle name don't really match each others style

TheDaydreamBelievers · 17/11/2020 15:19

I like all the other names but I dont like Docie and in scotland she'd definitely get called dozy, as in "what a dozy little idiot "

StripyTigerTail · 17/11/2020 15:31

I don't like it, but I'm sure I'd get used to it if I knew one.

I didn't think of dozy first. I actually thought do ci do as in line dancing.

Similar sounds, which I also don't like but you might;

Dulcie
Darcie
Rosie
Josie (short for Josephine maybe?)

StripyTigerTail · 17/11/2020 15:31

Rowan is my favourite from your list.

happylittlechick · 17/11/2020 15:38

How do you know no-one in the U.K. has ever been called this?

I should have said registered in England and Wales.
You can check the ons which charts every name and how many babies were registered with a name each year. No results for docie.

Enough4me · 17/11/2020 15:44

Dulcie or Josie are prettier

Pudding01 · 17/11/2020 18:45

Sorry to be negative, but even in your original post you said you "believe it's pronounced".. It's just not a good name. If you really like it, maybe a middle name...

Prefer Darcy/Darcie x

Ellmau · 17/11/2020 18:55

Rowan is fab.

Firebird83 · 17/11/2020 23:46

Rowan is much nicer

I think baby name stats do not list a name if under three uses of it to ensure individuals are not identified so there could be a couple of Docie's a year

Mallory is lovely.
