Name for little FET baby

Hi all, needing some distraction and encouragement as I'm half way through a FET and find out tomorrow if we can move to the next stage of treatment. This will be our second baby and whilst we have ideas for a boys name, I'd like some thoughts on our girls names.

  1. Alannah
  2. Sienna

What middle names would you pick to go with them?
Any similar names you might think I'd like?

Big brother is Noah.

I love Alannah wanted it for a DD but dhs significant x so had to go off the list. but oh its soo pretty

Kanaloa · 15/11/2020 21:39

Both nice. I prefer Sienna and think Noah & Sienna sound nice together.

Shayisgreat · 15/11/2020 21:55

I prefer Alannah (it's on my baby girl list) but I think Sienna goes better with Noah. Sienna is very pretty.

Rockmehardplace · 15/11/2020 22:49

Alannah is gorgeous and underused IMO!

pilates · 15/11/2020 22:51

Definitely Alannah

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 15/11/2020 23:02

I love Alana - I'd spell it this way (it's the more common spelling, less frilly and also less "matchy" with Noah). Although Alana is a fairly modern name, it's not overused and very pretty.

Sienna is just okay for me - it's a bit trendy, so I think it will date much more than Alana (Sienna has shot up in popularity over the last 15 years).

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 15/11/2020 23:16

Oh and as Alana and Sienna are fairly modern names I'd use a more classic/traditional middle name with them personally (but not the overused Rose/May) - think Elizabeth, Catherine, Charlotte, Florence, Alice, Beatrice, Claire, Grace, Eve etc, depending on what flows with your surname. Or perhaps as it's a FET baby you might also want to consider Hope or Faith as a middle name?

SpillingTheTea · 15/11/2020 23:42

Sienna Grace

Firebird83 · 16/11/2020 00:13

Alannah. Good luck with the treatment!

MercyBodle · 16/11/2020 00:19

Alannah.

Penny21xxx · 16/11/2020 01:19

Both names are my top choice is baby is a girl! We're thinking Alanna Jean/Grace or Sienna Grace. Family links! Good luck xx

spiderlight · 16/11/2020 17:14

Sienna Grace was the first name to come to mind. I like Alannah too but I think I prefer Sienna.

Hope you've had good news today!

Springb0ks · 16/11/2020 18:43

Thank you all. I think we are swaying towards Alana/ Alannah!

Dh thinks Alana, I think Alannah.

Not quite the news we wanted today. Another week at the current stage before we progress but keeping everything crossed!

I love both your names, I have a Sienna and her middle names are Charlotte Grace but I think they work well with any name.

I love the name Alana, Alannah is equally pretty. It depends on how you want to pronounce it, I see Alana to rhyme with Lana and Alannah to rhyme with Suzanna. My preference is Alana. It looks less fussy written down and I prefer the pronunciation rhyming with Lana.

Alana
A beautiful and modern sounding name yet with an element of mystique and old age glamour to it.
Some meanings are:
‘cherished’, 'beautiful', ‘darling child’, ‘harmony’, ‘serene’, ‘little rock’ (beautiful to look at and rare but also strong, tough and unbreakable like a precious gemstone or jewel)
The name has multiple origins. It can be derived from the Old High German word for ‘precious’ or from the Irish language term “a leanbh” for ‘child’ or from the Goidelic/ Hawaiian community meaning ‘fair’, ‘beautiful offering’. In Gaelic ‘Alanna’ is the term for ‘beauty’ or ‘serenity’. Depending on the interpretation the name's roots can therefore be Old High German / Hawaiian / Irish / Gaelic.
The Alana I know was named after a great-great-grandmother of Dutch and French heritage called ‘Anna’ (pronounced ‘Ana’ like one of the lead characters in the Frozen film).
Characters with the given name: Alana (a royal mermaid princess in King Triton’s court), Alana Yarn (famous author in the Storybook Rainbow Magic Fairies series), Alana (protagonist main character from the ‘Alana Dancing Star’ series by Arlene Phillips), Alana of Trebond (fictional heroine in the Tortall novels), Alana (sporty, kind main character from the cartoon Dora the Explorer)
Some people with the given name: Alana Blanchard (American surfer), Alana Curley (American dancer), Alanna Nash (journalist), Alanna Nobbs (historian), Alanna Schepartz (scientist), Alanna Kraus (Canadian skater), Alana Aoun (bridal & couture designer), Alana Spencer (British business woman & Apprentice Winner).
