Myles or Alfie

We were set on Alfie - but We now really like Myles. Our other children have quite classic names - Myles would be "out there" compared to the other kids!

Miles. Don’t like the y. Great name though.

KittenCalledBob · 15/11/2020 18:20

Miles with an i

Blossomhill4 · 15/11/2020 18:20

I really like Myles! With the Y too.

villainousbroodmare · 15/11/2020 18:22

Miles. What are the other names?

RomillyTheRabbit · 15/11/2020 18:28

I love Miles. Myles is fine too, but I prefer the Miles spelling.

I'm not at all keen on Alfie.

Nell96 · 15/11/2020 18:29

Miles is currently our favourite name for a boy. Definitely prefer it with an i not a y.

AfterSchoolWorry · 15/11/2020 18:29

Myles.

Alfie is awful.

ShipOfTheseus · 15/11/2020 18:30

Miles spelled like that. Or Myles. Miles is a very classic name. Alfie isn’t at all classic.

Galvantula · 15/11/2020 18:32

Yes, Miles is nice. :)

Chilldonaldchill · 15/11/2020 18:34

Miles.
I see it as very normal and not remotely out there - it's a very classic name.
Alfie is fine but very popular and nowhere near as nice as Miles.

LittleBrownBaby · 15/11/2020 18:41

Amazing! Thank you!

I don't know why I spelled it with a Y. I guess an I is better really.

Other names for those who asked are Bronte sisters vs kings of England type names Wink

I prefer the y spelling. It's a family name for us, going back many generations, always with a y. Lovely name

TheDaydreamBelievers · 15/11/2020 19:26

Myles is much better. Alfie is super common atm and I'm not a fan

kerkyra · 15/11/2020 19:34

I have a Miles who is now 13. Only know of one other, spelt with a y who is older.
My elder son is called Daniel which I think is quite classic but think the names go together well.

june2007 · 15/11/2020 19:37

Not another Alfie. Go for Myles.

Fleetwoodmacs · 15/11/2020 19:38

Myles. Alfie is really common just now.

Kanaloa · 15/11/2020 19:41

Both are nice. Miles Alfie or Alfie Miles sounds nice together as well.

rumandbiscuits · 15/11/2020 20:02

I love Alfie!! I'm pregnant at the moment and would love to call the baby Alfie if it's a boy but my partner isn't convinced.

SionnachRua · 15/11/2020 20:13

I'd have said Miles is much more classic than Alfie (so much more in line with your other names). Would choose Miles.

Brighterthansunflowers · 15/11/2020 20:32

Neither are really my taste but I prefer Alfie

BigusBumus · 15/11/2020 20:39

I have an 18 yr old Miles. Much much nicer with an i and not a y.

I also liked Julian at the time I was thinking of names for him.

tmh88 · 15/11/2020 20:41

Both lovely names! I really like miles, however my grandad is called Alfie so that sways things for me to choose Alfie!

DramaAlpaca · 15/11/2020 21:38

Miles is nice. It's quite classic in style, actually.

Alfie is twee. Alfred is a fine classic name though.

Firebird83 · 16/11/2020 00:44

I love Miles, with the i spelling.

SaffieSoph · 16/11/2020 09:00

Myles. I prefer with the y too!
