Hi

Just after some help and suggestions on a baby girl name ! We don’t know what we are having, but have a baby boy name already decided.
We are not certain on a girls name 😬 and my wife and I are struggling to agree !
The middle name is definitely Hanna (family theme). Current first name options:

Otterley
Wren
Matilda
Elora
Indigo
Olive

Appreciate people’s thoughts on these names and if anyone has any other suggestions. (Baby brother is called Artie btw)

Do you mean Ottilie? Otterley is a bit too close to describing an animal for my liking. Either way, it's a no from me for that.

I really like Olive and Elora

SenCallec · 12/11/2020 12:57

Otterly is Utterly fab. I don't know why it tickles me and I do love otters. Do it do it do it!

IrishCawfee · 12/11/2020 13:01

That's otterly disgraceful!

FluffyEggsontoast · 12/11/2020 13:06

Otterley - love Ottilie
Wren - love this name
Matilda - love
Elora - not keen
Indigo - love
Olive - love

A great list!

DepuisToujours · 12/11/2020 13:11

I love Wren and Olive! Really like Indigo. Not keen on Otterley. If you are in England, or anywhere with a non rhotic accent, it will sound very similar to Ottilie which might get confusing. Matilda is nice, but a bit trendy maybe. Elora I am not keen on.

MikeUniformMike · 12/11/2020 13:21

How about Beaverley?

littleeggcup · 12/11/2020 13:28

@MikeUniformMike

How about Beaverley?

Ottilie is beautiful and my favourite out of those names but please spell it properly or don't use it 🙈, I don't mean to be rude in any way it's just a pet peeve of mine to misspell names and I have a few teacher Friends that feel the same! Ottilie and artie sound lovely together x congratulations, not long to go now x

Firebird83 · 12/11/2020 14:10

Please don’t spell it Otterley if you use it Grin

Champy87 · 12/11/2020 15:16

I find these names are often used when people think they are being different but actually end up with a popular/trendy name. If popularity is no issue you to you, then that doesn't matter but just to give you some insight, i know multiple baby Ottilie, Wren, Indigo and Olive's born in the last 2 years (at least 3 of each)

I'd say Matilda is more classic although popular and Elora is the more interesting and least popular of them all.

emmathedilemma · 12/11/2020 15:44

Otterley sounds like it should be a village in Cheshire or the Cotswolds!
Matilda and Olive are nice. India is ok but I don't like Indigo and I really don't like Wren and Alora.

lanbro · 12/11/2020 15:54

I love Elora!

Macblondie · 12/11/2020 16:02

I love Matilda and Indigo from your list. Smile Like others have said, Ottilie is much nicer than Otterely!

CatteStreet · 12/11/2020 16:08

Presuming you mean Ottilie, it's actually pronounced Ott-i-liuh.
Elora is lovely. So is Matilda, but it's (understandably) pretty popular. 'Goes' well with Artie, though.
Not keen on the others, sorry.

Suggestions:
Damaris
Meriel
Ellen
Clara
Katinka

CatteStreet · 12/11/2020 16:09

Oh, and Iris. Iris goes really nicely with Artie. Or how about Ida (pronounced Eeda)?

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 12/11/2020 16:11

Ottilie is having a bit of a Mumsnet/Telegraph "moment" currently so I think it's going to rise in popularity soon (and thus eventually date), plus it's not my taste to be honest.
Indigo and Wren are very nice (particularly Wren) but quite hippy in vibe and so may not suit your child when she's older.
Olive is still a bit too dated for me, sorry.
Elora is beautiful but looks a bit fantasy/made up (isn't it the baby's name from the "Willow" film? )
Matilda is nice enough though, and very useable.

Laura/Lara/Eleanor/Lenora or India/Indira instead of Elora and Indigo? Morwenna with the nn Wren? Octavia/Aurelia/Ophelia instead of Olive/Ottilie?

Bubbletrouble43 · 12/11/2020 16:11

Wren is lovely but imo doesn't go with Hanna, the rest all go I think Elora is my favourite. It's gorgeous.

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 13/11/2020 07:33

Otterley
Wren
Matilda
Elora
Indigo
Olive

My fav is Matilda
I'm not keen on Olive or Otterley
I don't think Wren or Indigo go with your middle name
Elora is nice

Magicbabywaves · 13/11/2020 07:39

Ottilie is one of those names that makes me feel irrationally annoyed. And the way you’ve spelt it puts me in mind of Ottery Saint Mary.
Wren. No.
Matilda is the best.

Takethewinefromtheswine · 13/11/2020 07:46

Matilda is nice.
Lots of Wrens around here. I find it a very unattractive name, it's too consonanty and wrens are dumpy and speckled, so not a nice association to my mind. However, the fact there are loads shows I'm on my own with that.

The4ks · 13/11/2020 07:48

Artie and olive are very cute together

Flappingflamingo · 13/11/2020 10:53

Love matilda and like olive. Don't like any of the others at all

user1493494961 · 13/11/2020 15:32

Matilda is lovely, not keen on any of the others, Elora sounds a bit made up.

PO4dad · 14/11/2020 15:11

Thanks for all your comments and tips ! Very helpful 👍🏼
Otterley should have been spelt Ottilie my wife has subsequently told me ! 😂 I miss spelt it. It is a name I don’t like and she does ! 😬

Indigo Hanna is lovely.

Wren getting too popular
Ottilie, Elora - just too much and a bit daft
Matilda overused
Olive I can't stand - so dowdy
