Hi everyone, I’m due in a couple of months with a little girl on the way - these are the names DH and I both like but I keep finding a negative in each of them so keep going round in circles trying to choose. We already have DD1, Lily - her name was easy to choose as it had a special meaning. We’re finding choosing a name for her sister harder!!

Sadie
Jasmine
Coral
Violet
Gracie/Grace
Scarlett
Pearl
Clara

Which one do you like best to go with Lily?
Thanks for your help!
Xx

Sadie - ok, not my taste
Jasmine - like, but another flower
Coral - not keen
Violet - another flower
Gracie/Grace - goes well
Scarlett - ok
Pearl - looks pretty but I don't like the sound.
Clara - don't like it, but like Cara.

From your list I'd probably choose Jasmine or Scarlett.

I'd look outside the currently 'trendy' names and look at more traditional names like Margaret or Catherine.

MikeUniformMike · 08/11/2020 13:33

Lily and Cara are nice together.

Oneandabean · 08/11/2020 13:35

Scarlett and Clara go nicely with lily. I think jasmine and violet are a bit to much with lily.

Standrewsschool · 08/11/2020 13:35

Jasmine - another pretty flower name

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 08/11/2020 13:35

Violet.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 08/11/2020 13:38

Violet is gorgeous! Clara is nice too, those are my favourites from your list. Lyra is also gorgeous!

Spied · 08/11/2020 13:39

I'm liking Lily and Jasmine.
I also think you can't go wrong with an elegant classic like Grace (not Gracie)

Chilldonaldchill · 08/11/2020 13:40

Sadie - beautiful, uncommon, goes well with Lily
Jasmine - I'm not keen on the name anyway and wouldn't choose two flower names
Coral - not keen. Would prefer Cora or Cara
Violet - two flower names
Gracie/Grace - nice, simple, goes well with Lily
Scarlett - it's ok
Pearl - nice name, not really my style but I think it would go well
Clara - lovely. This is probably my second favourite though I think Cara would be even better

Sadie then Clara for me - or Cara Wink

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/11/2020 13:41

Love Sadie

SocialBees · 08/11/2020 13:42

My favourites are Clara and Grace - both beautiful.
Least favourites are Sadie and Pearl.

Enderline · 08/11/2020 13:59

I know 11 year old twins called Lily and Jasmine, and I think the names go nicely together. I don't see a problem with having two flower names. Lily and Violet go beautifully together too.

tara66 · 08/11/2020 14:14

Rose.

SaffieSoph · 08/11/2020 14:23

Sadie, Cora, then Violet.

hollylouise1994 · 08/11/2020 14:32

Sadie - not keen
Jasmine - LOVE.
Coral - no
Violet - like a lot
Gracie/Grace - not keen, especially Gracie.
Scarlett - works well with Lily!
Pearl - no
Clara - awful, sorry.

IckleBear · 08/11/2020 14:32

Definitely Sadie!

Romy
Thea

Zofloratheexplora · 08/11/2020 14:34

Violet or Scarlett

SugarCoatIt · 08/11/2020 14:34

I like Jasmine and Grace the best

DramaAlpaca · 08/11/2020 14:35

I like Clara and Jasmine best with Lily.

Sunflower0000 · 08/11/2020 14:55

Clara, Pearl or Grace work really well.
I considered Coral for our DD but then someone pointed out it sounds a lot like Carol

IamnotwhouthinkIam · 08/11/2020 15:22

Grace followed by Clara fits best with Lily for me, as they are both of a similar style - pleasant sounding, classic/traditional names that are just having a "popular" moment currently.

I don't like the sound of Sadie or Scarlett personally. I'm also not keen on Jasmine, Violet, Coral or Pearl (they seem a bit dated to me) plus you risk having a "flower/nature theme" - if you want this you might as well use (the much nicer imo) Rose, which is traditionally used for a sister to Lily.

Lisa78Lemon · 08/11/2020 15:47

Clara and Jasmine are my faves and I feel like they go well.
All lovely, elegant names.

TheDetectiveBadge · 08/11/2020 16:02

I think Clara goes best.

YoniAndGuy · 08/11/2020 16:04

Sadie - like, prefer Saskia
Jasmine - like, goes well with Lily.
Coral - super naff. Very 80s.
Violet - the last of the trendy flower names to be revived but it will soon head downwards as 'Vi' is grim. Also too close to 'Violent'.
Gracie/Grace - the uber middle name? Ok, but only if you adore it - it's a bit boring.
Scarlett - harsh, little dated now. No.
Pearl - quite like
Clara - quite like

I think I'd go for Jasmine.

JoJoLou165 · 08/11/2020 20:30

Thank you so much everyone - oh my goodness you have all mirrored my loves and hates for all the names!! No wonder I'm going round in circles Grin Maybe I should think about going back to the drawing board until I come across a name that I simply love and have no doubts about - does that exist?!!!

If you have any new suggestions feel free to throw them at me!

Thank you so so much, you're all being really helpful xx
